Cuckoo Haiku: Smasho, Crasho, Basho!

Thanks Vic

A word of explanation for the title: Some years ago, haiku -- an obscure form of poetry practiced by the Japanese -- was all the rage at Harvard. When I attended Union Graduate School, I came into contact with a Harvard man, Roy Fairfield, who had taken up the practice, and who inspired the following little ditty:

Haiku, Low-ku,
Ho, ho, hoku.
Why do haiku?
You go ku-ku?

Roy was not impressed, declaring, "It isn't even haiku." (He was right -- it was an improvement.) But that isn't all, because another Harvard man, Robert Prechter of Elliott Wave fame, used to insert a haiku at the end of his newsletters -- invariably one written by Basho. So with these ratty chatty memes rattling around in my brain, it is up to you to figure out how they came together in the title of this file. Good luck! --Birdman
