Feet of Clay: Proof That Our Icons Are Human, Too
Note: It was said that the communists hoped to destroy the West by (among other things) destroying people's faith in their leaders. However, if the commies had a good strategy, it was only because the people of the West were being lied to about their leaders, and because the people were naive about human frailty. I say it is time to stop being shocked that great men often have great faults, and time to start honoring them for what they were, rather than what they were not.

Andrew Jackson
While President Andrew Jackson was known for his raucuous lifestyle, it was his tendency for 'colorful' language that was apparent at his funeral. Some of his most off-color remarks would be lost to history if not for his pet parrot, Poll. Placed in a corner of the room during Jackson's funeral, Poll cut loose a line of language echoing his owner that would make a drunken sailor look like an altar boy. The dissertation became so vulgar and obnoxious Poll was removed from the room. --Source now lost
