  Hello EOB fans!

My name is Michael Legg and I am a programmer / designer for Westwood
Associates. I am happy to say that I just solved "EOB 2: The Legend of
Darkmoon". We have put a large amount of time and work into the programming,
design, story, game play, art, and music into this one--and I'm sure that you
will not be disappointed! Everyone in our company who has spent endless
weekend nights play-testing it are completely addicted.

Keep an "Eye" out for it very soon, and please send me any comments and
criticisms when you play it!

                                        Have fun!

I got EOBII today and am having a great time with it. I transfered my
characters frim EOBI, didn't have any problem.

There are new monsters and spells, seems the monsters are harder to kill. I'm
having fun terminating endless Skeletal Lords. Only have one Dark Moon key
and I need more but am having trouble finding more. I got the one where you
have to kill a bizillion SLs.

Off to kill more creatures, wait till I catch up to that thief,

I finally have all the horns, and now I'm stuck. Am I supposed to go up or
down from the ant level. I cant find any stairs lower than that. Also is there
a way to fight whatever it is that is making those scratches in the walls, I
can't get in those open pieces of wall with the tar like stuff in front of
them. Great game so far.

I stopped by Babbage's last nite and picked it up - WOW! The graphics are
really nice (especially the opening scenario). Since I had a hard disk crash
a couple of months ago and lost my EOB I chars, I started with a freshly
rolled party -- now I'm practicing dying consistently <grin>. What kind of
party did you all start out with? I'm running a Dwarf Fighter, Human Paladin,
Half-Elf Mage/Cleric, and a Half-Elf Cleric. From the looks of what's been
going on so far, I may need to change my party members <g>. Good job, SSI!

A.LANGE2, you will find a spell book where you find the second darkmoon key.
There is also an ankh if you got the dwarven cleric instead of the elf mage.
With six save slots, I'm play two games, one with the elf and one with the
dwarf.

I imported my characters from EOB I, a dwarf fighter, a paladin, elf mage and
half-elf cleric. My paladin isn't hitting on much, wish I would of imported
another fighter.

Well, back to the nightmare level. Wait till I meet up with that thief.

Did anyone find a way into the temple without hacking up the clerics at the
front door? That may be the only way in, but in a party of good characters it
isn't very satisfying...

I agree about hacking the clerics. Gee, if my Paladin gets pissed at digging
up graves then he sure should get pissed at attacking clerics in their own
temple. Still killing those zillion skelton lords. Beside the above problem,

I brought over my original party from EOB I, and the transfer went quite
well...we even got to keep all the good stuff, like the halberd+5 and the
sword+5, etc. Just spent some time walking around the woods, bashing wolves
and looking for anything interesting (aside from Darkmoon). Found some stairs
down that led to rotten food and leather armor. Looked at the walls down there
a long time, hoping to find a secret way into the temple. Would rather not
have to fight those clerics at the door...not a GOOD way to get started!

Ron- I found the elf mage, but didn't see a dwarf cleric yet. I DID free a
dwarf, but he went home immediately to warn his people.
I tried all sorts to avoid the clerics, running, closing the door, had to
kill them. I noticed they regenerate many times if you go back there.
For the Skeleton Lords, I tossed some Ice storms and backed into a doorway.

I am on the level where you can't rest, TOUGH area. I have found 1 button so
far that my people didn't mention. Gave me something in an alcove, can't
recall what.

What god do the clerics of this temple worship? If it's an evil deity, then

I have only found one button, and that just turned off a spinner. Did find an
illusionary wall, battled some ants and got one moon key, solved the 3x3 room,
killed what seem like a thousand margoyles, but didn't find anything. I know
there must be something back there, must be overlooking something.

Back looking for buttons and walls, and that thief.

I am on level three where the blue moon doors, skeleton keys, and four
fireball traps are found and I am not making any further progress. This is
the floor with the endless skeletal lords.... Help! Where do I go from here?

The reason why the paladin is not upset by killing the clerics in their own
temple is that they were evil clerics. If you open the door to their quarters
they will attack you anyhow!!

You can never use elf bones at a later date. Elves cannot be resurected. Try
it! Resurecting the elf did not work for me!

My party is transfered from "EOB I", and I have both the dwarv cleric and

only way I can get around this is by making sure that the enemy cleric didn't
get a chance to cast their spell. Like the game a lot though.

Al, check for illusionary walls on that level, you will find some keys to get
you started, but that isn't all that is back there.

On the trust yourself or whatever that guy says, I had to take two hits from

over 100 hrs. to recover.

The elf bones and the drarf cleric are near each other, I don't think I could
of made it through the nightmare level without two clerics. I let him go when
I started in the temple, after I brought back the elf mage.

Back to the temple.

The "soft spot" room, you need to concentrate your resources, but choose which
direction wisely, you can only gain from 1.
 Cryptic enough? <g>
Deep down below, guarded by Margoyles, is a "stone gem" to gate to the temple

Below the Margoyle level are ants. I never found a way further down.
You can pass up the "red key" door and go upstairs another way. If you have
the horns, go back to the beginning <g>.

I am now on the Beholder level. Have killed 3 so far. A nice variety of
puzzles, riddles, and monsters.
Question- is there a way to get in, destroy, or block the ant or wasp nests?
And what were those tar spots down below? Were the scratches made by ants?
Opinions?

Jeff, more comments concerning the divide error. My second party was another
save from EOB I. (I had 10 saves from EOB 1 by setting up a bat file routine
for saves. When you booted the game with EOB1.bat it would first copy
eobdata.sa1 to eobdata.sav. When you booted off the game it automatically
copied eobdata.sav to eobdata.sa1. YOu use batch files for this process. You
could use this process to have 60 save games or more for EOB II)

Help guys, I have found one copper key while fooling around again on one level
below the entrance to darkmoon. Managed to get into one of the doors above
the entrance level.

I still have not solved the 3x3 pressure plate room pattern or the location of
the stone portal key. (e-mail help please)... I have found three stairways
down from level one below the entrance to darkmoon (shall we call this level (-
1)?) to level (-2). On level (- 2) I have only found some small passageways
(one with spiders, one dead end from a trap above and one that leads to the
stairway down. Level (-3) is the endless skeletal lords level. Level (-4) is

Ok everyone, thanks! I found the stone portal (gem) key, another blue moon
key and a lot of secret passages opened by buttons. I managed to get into the
upstairs section with lots of priests and the weirdest keys you ever saw. I
now have several copper keys.

Hint keep killing the evil looking black statues, some hide some interesting
developments! I must go back to map out where I am...

Thanks for the help!

Overkill: Yes apparently the dwarf only joins the party when something has
been done above or whatever. I have done the dwarf section five times and he
joined the party four out of five.... Sin Rall can be found in another cell as
a complete set of elf bones. Sin can be resurected by a god's altar, if you
catch my drift or was that a breese I felt that made me shiver....

I got to the "soft" spot 3x3 room with the skulls in the corners. I figured
out how to get out of the room but one of the options has +3 plate mail and
Lord James of Natingdale (only a partial skeleton). I have figured no way out
of this eastern trap.... Any suggestions... I know that I must return
downstairs again and attempt to go down to the ant level and search for the
four horns and keys. I have been unable to open anymore doors and I have a
skull key, an iron key, a blue moon key and a spider key.... oh well on with
the quest...

Well I solved the horn and key thing in the paragraph above before I posted
this message. I have gotten past the test of faith (upstairs in darkmoon)
and have met the second dwarf (fighter/cleric level 7/7), found the stairs up
to the wasp level. Can you destoy the wasp nests? I have tried swords,
polearms, fireballs and cone of cold (BTW: Spells do not seem to work against
mantis eggs only hatched mantis! Mantis hatch without those nasty knives.)

Of bones there are three that are the key? What does this mean and what does
it refer to? Key to what?

Nothing ventured nothing gained?

What can be trusted?

hmmmm.....

Ok, after some intense playing (I'm on vacation right now), I'm pretty
far ahead. I will try to answer some questions but since I rushing past this
games so fast, my recollections are less than perfect.

Al :
Not all illusions are walls. Remember the scene from Indiana Jones
III (the movie)?

Savalli :
I'm about where you are right now. I think the shell key is past the
door by the three levers in the fireball traps area. I can't get past the
moving wall as well.

Wig :
Can't recall where is the four keys-one door area you mentioned. What
monsters are prevalent in that area? The map you found is for a level filled
with beholders. Good luck!

Any who can help :
How do I get past the wall that keep moving to block you path? I've
pretty much solved the rest of that level.

Hey! Where exactly is that soft-spot puzzle any way? I've been
pretty thorough in exploration but did not find that particular puzzle.

Jeff --

I do believe the Death Knights do finally run out. But it takes a long
time. I stood behind the door near where they come from. I would then just
open the door, and slam it shut if they are out there. But if they are not,
then when they do appear, I hit them with cold spells, fireballs, electricity
and anything else that travels more than one square, then slam the door shut
before they can get to me. They eventually all died!

Mark --

I thought this was a great game until I reached the area with all the
Wasp and Nests. And then the "Software Bugs" got me big time. First my Mouse
kept hanging up. This happened a couple of times earlier in the game so I
just rebooted and kept on going. Then I tried to use my newly acquired Cone of
Cold spell against a swarm of Wasps and the game just froze up, over and over
again. So, I went around another way and believe I found the same swarm from
the back side. They stayed in their area allowing me a clear square to fire
an Ice Storm at them. Well I did, and I must of just about destroyed
everything in the temple because the next thing I knew I was looking at a
dying red dragon and some really fantastic end game sequences. I do believe
I've missed quite a bit of the game. I have not seen any Beholders and only
one talking mouth (Give me three bones). I didn't even have to go through the
maze of zappers.

Needless to say, I'm unhappy. It's nice to reach the end game credits,
but it's even nicer to finish the game.

Oh, by the way, those end game graphic are really fantastic. They sure
learned their lesson following Eye of the Beholder One.

Could they have rushed this to market for Christmas?

Has anyone else had any problems, or is it just me?

Well I've been playing for a little while to get a feel for the game.
I have EOB I characters, but I decided to roll new characters and
started playing with them. Somewhere along the line something happened
to my Ranger.....under the EXP LVL section of the character sheet
 I got this Range -173200635113..... and it hasn't changed. I don't know
if this was there all the time but I guess I'm going to have to stat over
....maybe I 'll use my EOB I characters this time. So far I like the game.
The game did freeze up once...I could move the mouse but that was it.
A map feature sure would be nice. Back to the Darkmoon.

I think I may have just screwed up. Got the glowing orb and accidentially
used (right-click) it, and it disappeared. From the last few msgs, looks like
I'm going to need that for later.

A few questions to anyone who's kind enough to send an EMail:

Done the nightmare levels, but never found out what was behind those holes --
Anything I should go back for?

Am now currently stuck with one too few moon keys -- I _may_ have lost one to
the cubes, but am not sure. One door remains closed to me and that's the moon
locked door on the eastern side of the level with the "X" door trick.

Have 3 of the winds (all but South) and would like to complete the set -- if
anyone has a spare... ;)

Have the stone Gem -- That sure comes in handy.,

On the level with the 3-way fireball trap that has the do-it-yourself exit, I
was able to knock down one of the walls, but that's about it. Found 4 others
that give a "Fail" msg as opposed to "Try somewhere else." Do any of these
lead anywhere?

Any other hints that I might find useful would be appreciated, if you're
willing to send 'em along. :)

- Scott

I made it finally to the basilisk and land shark level, but I still am
confused about a few things:

How do you open the door beyond the moving wall puzzle? What goes into the
smooth round hole?

Is there anything more to be found in the fireball trap area besides the shell
key, the magic mouth challenge, the medusa shield and the crimson key?

What do the six levers do (3 in the west and 3 in the north east)?

How do you get beyond the glass barriers in the north east of the floor? How
do you open the door in the north east of the floor?

blue.ghost: I should have told you not to put the item in your hand. I
thought I did tell you not to put the item in your hand?
r.sanders18: Amber is on the floor just above the entrance level in one of
the southern rooms. The mouth that asks for three bones wants just that three
bones (skulls and femurs)...
D.Kamber: There are actually two nightmare levels: the ant level and the
margoyle level. The ant level is below the margoyle level. There is a spyder
key and lock behind a secret wall in the north west of the margoyle level that
leads down. Send me e-mail and I will get more specific.... Hint: Use the
first key on the spider door in the south west first and you will get a second
spider key that you can use in the south east to get a third spider key to go
down with. Use this order or you will be unable to rest on this level or the
one below... You must find the stone gem portal key to take you to an area
where you can rest before going down to the ant level.
jarik: The glowing orb of which you speek is only a fireball globe and is
not anymore useful than as a weapon... The holes on the ant and margoyle
(nightmare levels) are inaccessable and contain nothing you need in the game.
Concerning the moon keys, have you found the stone portal key yet (see above
description). There should be another moon key behind the spider doors and
further within... The next wind horn is found in the beyond the blue moon
doors on a stairway going up (If I remember corectly)... Only one wall in the
three way fireball trap leads anywhere.
p.chiu: This game has automapping by paper and pencil! I am up to 19 sheets
of 35x50 square map paper. EOBI players and some equipment are easily
transferred. +5 swords, +5 halberds, potions, scrolls, sheilds and armor
transfer. Make sure your mages have the remove curse spell!

c.yang6, I tried the three levers the the northeast and the button on the

j.thomas69, after you get the four horns go back to the place where you
entered darkmoon and just to the west of where you met the two guardians there
is a wall carving of the four winds. Something like a seal used in Egyption
monuments. There is some conection between the carving of the four winds and
the horns of the four winds...
jthomas69: the second floor of the temple has a keyhole with a bright red
plate around it! Where is this keyhole? Be more specific about the second

I'm getting this game on Thursday and would like a little info from those

Do the Stone Portal items transfer? Are they needed? Do all the weapons

I hope this hasn't been covered uptopic already because I IGN PER'ed this
topic as soon as the game was released to avoid reading any Spoilers on the

I have been playing EOB II for 3 days now and have managed to clean out

the catacombs. I have reached the level above the bees in the tower

and have encountered a keyhole that requires a bone key. I recall having

2 of them at one point in the game but I used them someplace. One I picked

up after a fight and the other I THINK I made... I have been running all over

the place trying to remember how I made the other key, was it a one shot deal?

Did I use one where I shoud not have? Is there more to be found?

Also, I let the old lady guide me to Darkmoon, and I am wondering what I
missed

in the woods. I can't find out now since the doors locked!

Was there a thief out there someplace? I have found a female fighter and a

male cleric fighter but no thieves! I have none in the party I imported from

EOB I!! Will I catch up with that thief I freed in the catacombs?

Also, the box says there is a Temple, Catacombs and 3 Towers to explore,

how do you get to the others - will it happen naturally or did I miss them?

Does anyone know how many levels there are in each tower?

any answers to any questions appreciated!!

I NEED SOME HELP HERE, PLEASE!

I am in the medusae maze in the amber tower (SSI calls the tower with the red
walls the amber tower). What is there to find and what do I do next? I have
found a stone dagger and some other junk like a scroll! Once I have the stone
dagger do I go back down to the temple for my next move... Does anyone have a
map of the medusae maze?

j.harrop, +5 weapons, potions and scrolls do transfer.... Check your spell
list you will need a lot of spells.... Elf characters are a real pain in this
one. If they die only one altar (so far) can resurrect an elf... One elf
wizard is particularly useful, but in the medusae lair, he can not use the
medusae shield....
c.yang6, yes in the north east section if one is up and the others are down
when you push the button one will raise up! Viola..and thanks!
d.kamber, found a stone dagger in the medusae maze! I am not sure what to do
next however... I do have all the solutions for the mouths should you need
them!
j.veneskey, making the key was a one shot deal. Proceed with the test and
you will find another one (sucessful test) or you will be given a key and some
punishment... I assume you are on the magic mouth level? The woods had an
underground cave with rotten food and a place to rest. Rotten food is also
found in the beholder lair at the top of the silver tower (SSI name for the
first tower entered with the four horns), and on the magic mouth floor in a
room with a snake generator.... Most items can be found closeby for the
mouths... Within the silver tower... I have not seen bones nor hide of the
theif.... Amber is a theif mage on the second floor of the monk's residence
in the south side (pick the locks with the curved shaped keyholes)....hmmm you
dont have a thief so how you gona pick the locks??? Dilema!!! This appears
to be an SSI oversight... Pick up the bones of the elf mage he is quite an
asset later on. I still have him! Each tower unfolds after finishing the
prior tower or catacomb... You do the mezzanine, the monk's residence,
catecombs, silver tower, amber tower then crimson tower in that order.

Barry,

I used a combination of fireballs, magic missles, and my paladin and
fighter attacking hand to hand. This worked for individual groups of four.
Then when I found the room that was full of undead, I got them to chase me and
spread out into groups of four or less. After that it, was a matter of killing
a group and then going somewhere to regain spells before fighting the next
group.

    Darryl.

P.S. Your cleric can turn some of them ocasionally.

bschlossberg, the infinite skeletal lords is a problem of positioning and
speed. As are all monster conquests. Judicious use of magic just depletes
the magic users. You must hack and slash them by postioning yourself in such
a way that one you can make best effect of the cone of cold spell that expands
and kills most everything in front of you and the melee weapons on the front
lines... I have brought over +5 swords and +3 and +4 short swords from EOBI
and have outfitted my front fighter with them. The four swords can be quite
devistating to one monster at a time....`
 d.kamber, good advice!!
m.murakami, the half-elf fighter/cleric/mage character sounds like the ticket
since my party with this character also had a divide error on one certain

The gems are beyond the teleporters, just north of the ornament in a room
reaced by the corridor found to the west of the central basilisk room, and the
body gem is in the south beyond the moving pits in the north to south corridor
found to the east of the main basilisk room which goes south to the room with
the body gem. This is nothing that a little searching would not do. By the
way the north south corridor in the east is hidden by a secret door which is

Blue Ghost,

I think I have the one on the ant level, the one first one with the note up
near the first level, and the one at the exit to the nightmare levels. It's
the other horn that I'm having trouble locating.

I am also stuck on the Sentry puzzel and any help would be appreciated. If
you are having trouble with the beholders (works with other monsters as well)
you need to get them in a 2x2 or bigger room. This way you can attack and then
move before it has a chance to cast any spells. I was able to kill several
beholders this way without taking any damage. Thanks David Daniel

The Sentry wall moves as an item or person arrives on a plate. So, if some
items were served at a distance, it would visit them first.

For those who have reached the basilisk level, disperse the magic a third
time to find Alain. He jumped my MU from 400K ExP to 750K+1 ExP.

I have not found the True Seeing spell yet, nor has my cleric received it,
even though she is a high enough level.

Well, after playing off and on for the past couple of hours, I find myself
stuck at 3 of the magic mouths on the flying snake level.

The mouths that I can't seem to please are:

 Things born of Greed
 Natures Meat
Item from the fiends below/with the hidden glow.

Tis frustrating to come along so nicely lately, then to run right smack into
a wall. <G>

A hint of what might be required would be appreciated. Just a hint, no
solution.

that is past it. Where or what is the object need to open that door. Also
when you take the teleporter to fight the bulettes, the one were you are
supposed to leave your magic books and holy symbols, are you supposed to get

I been using the portal instead of the stairs after getting all the items
from the stairs and halls on the way out. Any sugestions to the location of
the horn on the margoyle level besides the one on the way up the stairs would

Finally got True Sight for one of my Mages -- LOVE that spell. Think I'm
going to go back down and check out all of the old levels to see what I
missed.

Question, for anyone who's passed the level following the mouth riddles (the
one that looks like it was designed by M.C. Escher, even WITH true sight) --
Is it just me, or is the wall layout simply not possible here> Things are
changing all right, and it doesn't seem like I'm getting anywhere.

I managed to find 3 pressure plates on that level (and the secret door leading
to one of them) and it doesn't appear that any of them will accept a
substitute weight. Any/all hints/giveaways GLADLY accepted. Also found the
trap with the fireball and the two floating Will 'o Wisps. Anything useful
there? Think I' ll go check out the parts of this level that DO make a little
sense one more time.

r.sanders18, your solution is not far from wrong as to the solution to "trap
the ladies to weight the plates" riddle, but not with a reflection from the
mirror!
c.yang6, I am right behind you perhaps I can help when I catch up.
j.buvel, the red key is only found in the azure tower as is the mark of
darkmoon found in the silver tower. You must finish the catecombs first and
find the four horns of the four winds to enter the azure tower... PPS You
can pick the locks to the funny looking bronze, brass key holes!
alchemedes, I have a full set of maps of the catecombes, the silver and azure
tower, but I do not have a mapping program to convert them to whatever!
d.gamblin1, the east horn is back on the nightmare levels!
d.savalli, e-mail me where you got the five and I will tell you where the
sixth one is!
d.kamber, what is the test of vision area?
l.gorrell, help is on the way!
d,daniel8, the sentry help is on the way!
a.lange2, the service at a distance for the sentry is involved with throwing
the solution on a plate...??? If you still need help e- mail me a request!
wintir, things born of greed are to be found one corridor south of the magic
mouth corridor behind a secret door in the south wall of this corridor...
Natures meat is the most obscure, those that idolize this fleshy brainfood are
to be found nesting below with the "friends from below." Let us say it is
heads if not shoulders above any invertibrate bust of clerically bent
fiends... Once natures meat is fed to the right mouth a door in the west of
the magic mouth level will open up revealin the item that glows and was once
hidden and inaccessable behind a locked door.... All but the head are to be
found on the magic mouth level.
d.daniel8, in order to open the sentry door, one must take the shell game and
win against all three battles. Be careful to put your holy items well into
the alcove or..... Also this is where a medusae shield is to be found...
jarik, are you in the medusae maze? Search around for he plaque that reads
"trap the ladies to weight the plates." Read the messages again! Something
can freeze the women in their tracks while you close the doors and do not
close off the south plate room until all of the other three northern ones are
filled with stunned women... (Certainly not stunning women)...
s.obrien13, you must upgrade your machine or be forever unable to play these
better games! Have you finished EOB2 yet?
jarek, the item you need is in the room after you defeat the monster in a
wall shelf!
d.grever1, use the four horns to enter the silver tower. The other doors and
areas are for the azure and crimson tower which will be opened for you once
you are at the right point in the game!
w.graves2: I know where the shields are e-mail me telling me where you got
the first five!
michele-c, I will send you the soft room solution.... But concentrate your
items in one direction would be a bright idea! Perhaps one of the four compass
points holds the key... PS: Where are you stuck exactly? Perhaps you have
already concentrated enough and now need to plant a seed....?

interested in giving my characters infinite hitpoints or such I just
desperately need a thief and I do not have one! I imported my party from EOB1

I'd love to change this cleric/fighter I picked up into a fighter thief.

Also, whats all this talk about fighting beholders on the level above the bees
in the tower? All I gound were harmless Gas Spores that blow up nicely with
long range magic missiles! I was scared stiff I was going to meet a whole

File format appears to be fairly similar to the last game, that helped quite a
bit.

First off, move the person to be changed to the first position in the party
(upper left). This isn;t truly necessary, but it'll save me the headaches of
calculating offsets for each position.

The byte at offset 52 (0x34) is the one that determines the class. (for you
adventurous ones, it's offset 32 (0x20) spaces from the first letter of a
character's name, assuming the first letter of the name is 0.

Class list:
  00 - Fighter
  01 - Ranger
  02 - Paladin
  03 - Mage
  04 - Cleric
  05 - Thief
  06 - Fighter/Cleric
  07 - Fighter/Thief
  08 - Fighter/Mage
  09 - Fighter/Mage/Thief
  0A - Thief/Mage
  0B - Cleric/Thief
  0C - Fighter/Cleric/Mage
  0D - Ranger/Cleric
  0E - Cleric/Mage

(For those who want to see an intersting character, try 'FF'. I never knew
that ``Female Halfling'' could be a class.)

*** WARNING: Do NOT change the NUMBER of classes a character has.
If they're using the same scheme as last time, that's going to
be a REAL mess. It can be done, but would take too long to
     explain.

It MAY be safe to change DOWN the number of classes, but changing UP gets
complicated.

WARNING #2: I would assume, and SSI will probably say as much, but it's more
than likely that by modifying any data files, you probably lose all technical
support that you could be given. (After all, what are they supposed to tell
you? They have no idea what was changed. I can almost guarantee you'll get
one answer: Start over with unmodified characters.)

Hope this helps, and if anyone could in turn lend me a hand with ANYTHING on
the Sentry level (Namely: Where's the key to get in to the door behind the
sentry? What good is the area with the 3 levels, glass walls, pushbutton, and
small room with soft spot? Is there anything other than a crimson key in the
area with the fire traps?)

Thanks muchly!

9 pressure plates : you have to leave 5 things behind (can be anything you
want). Start with the middle and then work out a pattern.
Now for my problem.... I have passed the level with the magic mouths and
now I can't kill those ugly spheres with many eyeballs. Ugly looking things
aren't they? As soon as I start to fight them they cast death and
disintegrate spells at me so by the time I can hit them half of my players are
dead meat. Are there any spells that protect me from magic? I tried all the
spells I have and none work. Is there something I forgot to pick up? In case
you haven't guessed, the ugly things with many eye- balls are in the board
right after the magic mouths. Any help would be greatly apprecited.

Overkill, lure the beholder into a room with at least 4 squares. Then keep
moving side to side, hit once, then move side to side hit again, and so on...
One more thing, use your mouse to attack and your arrow keys to move from side
to side. Worked great for me. Yes they are beholders, a dozen or more on that
level.

spells, for that matter)? Are you sure? I guess the designers never read the

Where is True Sight? My cleric is a high enough level to get it according to
the book, but she doesn't have it. My mage hasn't found any scrolls with it
yet. I am now in the Medusa maze. I have killed several, haven't seen a way
out or any signs.

The Bulette challenge ended with a guy who gave you a message screen before
battle. After battle, you should have found the Eye of Talon. The guy you
fight has an elephant nose and wings. Don't know what they are called.

Do not, repeat, DO NOT use the glass spheres as fireballs! You need
three of them to continue with the game at a later point. This message is not
meant to provide specific solutions but to save frustrations. I've only found
three spheres before they were needed so if you had used any of them up, you
might consider restoring an earlier game. Hope I'm not too late. (I'm sooooo

Could use a little hand on the level BELOW the medusae level -- In the room
with 2 teleporters, 5 soft spots, and 6 glass walls.

Al: Would love to return the favour, but I didn't write 'em down, either. I
ended up having to figure out the inventory section of the save file since the
game was ovbiously NOT going to give me the eye of talon -- If you want to try
that way, EMail (Attached) me a save game file and I'd be happy to mangle it
for you.

Jason: Thanks for the warning!

Rob Sanders: I could have sworn it did, but I'm getting the impression that
my version of the game isn't working exactly like anyone elses. Think I'm
going to backup the savegames and reinstall just to be safe.

Don't worry too much about Jason's warning about needing to go back to get
three glass spheres...there is a sphere generator in the Crimson Tower (up the
north stairway...put something on the altar after you flip the two switches
that stop the teleporters).

The challenge is to leave your cross and spellbooks behind and get other than
the 3 Bulettes. Take a wand if you have any, you face many monsters in hand-to-
hand.
The Wisps succumb eventually to swords, the plates change the layout of the
maze.

My cleric finally got True Vision. Turned out to be a 6th level spell, while
the book says 5th. Still haven't found a MU scroll for it yet.

I got fire-globes, 2 by the stone gem on the margoyle level, 1 on the Mantis
level.

Jarvik, I tried your suggestion, changed Tanglor from a Fighter/Cleric to a
Fighter thief. As far as I know, you do not encounter any thieves in this
game. I also did a little hacking, changed the experience bytes and now all
my characters are level 13. The experience levels are in reverse hex order.
I should say experience points. I found out that I had to fight a few battles
after raising said points, to get the levels up. I haven't played much since
then, but as yet I haven't encountered any problems. Anyone reading this,
don't mess around with your game saves unless you make a backup first, and if
you didn't understand what I said above, don't do it at all.

    comes later, I think.

And yes, this is the next area to conquer after the Nightmare
levels. In fact, you're in the first of 3 towers, the Silver
Tower. I've explored and mapped a little bit in this tower,
it's HARD! Those Mantis dudes are tough.

Thanks for the E-mail tips guys... However, I solved the riddle after I killed
the margoyle that must have been inside the secret wall, blocking me from
entering...

B.Langlois1, try setting your files to files=20 in your config.sys... Also try
setting you buffers to 15 or so... At the same time as you do all of this,
kick out all those extras that you are loading into main ram... Try to free up
at least 600k to give you elbow room. Judicious use of the devicehigh and
loadhigh commands will save you some memory. Look to your DOS 5.0 docs for
details...

A hint on the test of faith level...

I went into the area that was filled with light beams and before I was toasted
I found an axe....

You don't need the green hammer for the six glass walls. Hint : Those
two teleporters do not alway teleport things to the same place.

Warmonger :
There is an illusionary wall at the bottom left of the map. As far as
I know, those cracks are just generators.

Jeff & Michele : There is a semi-safe path through the electric field. The

I hate to be a "killjoy" but you're going to have to go through the lightbeams
sooner or later. The cursed blade "Hunger" needed to feed one of the magic
mouths is located beyond the far wall of the lightbeam chamber. As was said -
follow the on/off beam path and be ready for a fight - there are 4 mantis at
the end of the light beam trail and they're spoling for a fight.

I never went through the beams for "Hunger", I used a diferent cursed

So it looks like the blade "Hunger" is not needed.
