You have just opened the solution for Icewind Dale II, written by Modjahed.

quests and earn experience, or items, or gold.

I will strongly advise you to beat the game on your own before you read this,
otherwise you might ruin the fun of playing an RPG - the whole thing is an
entire SPOILER.

While Icewind Dale I was mainly a dungeon crawl with little quests and NPC
interaction, IWD2 has a good measure of quests and riddles that need to be
solved; making different choices will affect the outcome of a particular
quest or even of a game in a whole. Still IWD2 has retained a lot of combat.
This solution will deal mainly with the game's quests, and I will not focus on
combat tactics.

Unlike BG2, IWD2 is much more linear, and you can just complete the quests
one after another in a natural fashion (at least in the first chapters).

ARXXXX is the area code of the decsribed area, and the number in parenthesis
(XXXX,XXXX) is the X and Y coordinates of the object described. This info is
obtainable in the game by pressing X.

In IWD2 it is important, which of your characters speaks to an NPC, because the
dialogue options depend on different skills. In the solution, to save time, I
will write "you" instead of "the character that initiates the dialogue with an
NPC". It means that if you have a character with a diplomacy skill, and this
skill is important for a conversation, you should start the dialogue with that
exact character.

Now, lets get to the solution itself.

==============================================================================

CHARACTER CREATION

Character creation is the major part of fun in IWD2, so it is entirely up to
you. I will only give the following advice:

1) If you solo, take a cleric. You WILL get hurt, so you need to heal yourself.
Plus, Animate Dead is almost overpowerful (at least in first chapters)
2) If you take two chars, take a thief. Lots of unlocking and pickpocketing to
do. Plus, the sneak attack on multiple emenies one after another is just
   great.
3) If you want three people, take a fighter. You will need some power up front.
4) There are places, where there are ten enemies attacking your frontliner. A
single fireball will settle matters once and for all - so take a sorcerer.

All the rest in not essential. In fact, I write this solution and run through
the game with a following party: Shield Dwarf Fighter, Gold Gnome Cleric of
Tempus, and Strongheart Halfling Rogue.

As skills go, be sure to have Bluff, Intimidate and Diplomacy on your
characters - it will provide best dialogue options and quest solutions.
As combat feats go, I leave it for your own discovering.

  PROLOGUE
  --------

AR1000

You get off the ship from Luskan in the Targos docks. You speak to the
captain Hedron Kerdos (2490,890) about the goblin attacks on the city, and he
tells you to find the city mayor, Ulbrec Dinnsmore and to join the Targos Guard.

Get off to the shore, and move forward. At the end of a pier you talk to a man -
Reig Redwaters; his arm is hurt, and he asks you to find Magdar Shenlen and get
from him a healing potion. He also gives you a short blade. If you have Diplo-
macy or Intimidate skill, you can persuade him to give you the items from his
dead comrade Brohm: Leather Armor, Dagger, Helmet and Axe. If you have Diplomacy
and INT > 11, then you can also get a leather armor from him.

Head north, not forgetting to pick up goblin stuff, and at (1980,540) you talk
to Brogan. he has goblins locked up in the warehouse, and asks you to go to the
Salty Dog tavern, get the Iron Collar mercenary band, and come clear the
warehouse. Eventually you will have to do all the work yourself, but not now.

Move north to the warehouse at (2090,1440), and enter. Here you talk to Magdar
and he tells you that healing potions are in one of the crates, and he doesn't
have a key. You will have to search through the warehouse and bash (pick) the
locks. As soon as you start searching, three goblins will ambush you. Kill them
and loot the place.

NOTE: When entering any new area, building, room, etc. be sure to hold down
the Alt key - it will allow you to see all small/hidden containers and items
on the ground. If you don't do that, you will miss a lot of goodies.

Head out, and enter the building at (860,1036). It has three goblins and some
minor loot inside.

Go back to Reig, and give him a potion for 400 exp. If you have a healer with
you, you can offer to heal him with magic and keep the potion.

Go to (610,1490) and meet Jorun Tamewater - he tells you about his house,
and that there is a trapped chest with some equipment that you can use. If you
can disarm the trap that is. Go to his house (230,1900), disarm trap, pick lock,
get stuff.

Now go southeast to (810,2280). Enter the house, kill goblins and talk to
Firtha Kerdos, mother of Capt. Hedron. Offer Firtha to inform his son thay she
is safe.

Now move up to (890,1860) and enter the Salty Dog Tavern. There is a man to the
right, Guthewulfe Henghelm, he is a trader. Sell all the junk you have gathered
and be sure to buy a sufficient supply of ammo: bolt, bullets and arrows. Ask
him about his charm. There are two ways you can get this item:
1) Pickpocket him (you also need to pickpocket a bottle of Braehg).
2) If you have a character with CON 16 or greater, you can win it via a
braegh-drinking contest. If you choose that way, don't forget to buy off
Guthe a bottle of that Braehg - you will need it later.
His charm is rather nice - 3 x Summon Wolf or 450 gp worth.

NOTE: When selling junk, keep at least one Warhammer with you. You will need it
later.

Check all the piers in the docks - there are goblins in the far end of one of
them. Kill them.

Talk to the Iron Collar band - looks like they are just a bunch of rude people:
leave them be for now, we will deal with them later. Just be sure to ask them
about their comrades Koluhm and Phaen. Get out, and move to the
warehouse at (2270,600). Pick/bash the lock, enter, kill goblins, loot the first
floor, then head down to the basement (entrance at top left corner).
Kill everybody, and get 1350 exp for clearing the docks from goblins. If you
didn't get the exp it means there are still goblins somewhere.

Be sure to get the magic scroll from the basement and the dead cat from the
first floor, and also keep at least one bottle of wine (it is possible to get
three - one at warehouse, and the other two pickpocketed from Iron Collar and
Hedron).

Talk to Brogan and get 400 exp, then talk to Hedron and get 300 exp, go back to
Firtha's house and tell her that you have found a cat that she was missing.
Talk to her about a "wind in her eyes", and eventually you can find out that she
has some sort of "Sight" - ask her about her visions; you will learn that you
might fly to Kuldahar soon...

We are done with the docks and can move up town - exit at top left corner.

AR1100

We have entered Targos itelf. Move up to (420,990) and enter. Talk to Koluhm
and ask why he moved out from the Weeping Widow inn. Looks like some "weeping"
spirit is haunting the "weeping" inn. Move down and enter that inn at (790,1753)
Talk to the innkeep, and find out that Koluhm had stayed in a room with a
spirit. Do not start asking about the spirit yet, now focus on Koluhm. Find out
that he left the inn without paying, and left some weird potion instead. To get
the potion quest, you need to always pick the 2nd dialogue option (where there
are more than one option) after you learn about Koluhm not paying. You should
receive the potion bottle and learn that lord Ulbrec's wife can identify it.

Go out an talk to a man at (1120,1680) - Lumbar Grundwall. He needs help in
howling the lumber to the palisade, but the crane is broken. Offer help.

Enter the building at (1630,1830). It is Gallaway Trade Depot. You can get some
supplies from Deidre, the owner, but also be sure to pickpocet Jemeliah for a
nice amulet: "Lucky Knucky", +1 to all saving throws.

Get out and head right and up, and enter the Mayor's house at (2312,1509). Talk
to Ulbrec Dinnsmore, ask about what's gonig on in Targos and receive the
assignment to report to Shawford Crale in the Palisade. Then enter the room to
the right and talk to his wife Elytharra. First ask her about the scroll that
you have from the warehouse, and she will offer to identify it. Do it, and you
can as well identify Innkeep's potion. Then ask her about the used tele-
portation scroll and learn about a traitor in town. Offer help in finding him.
Then talk about the potion, and learn that it is just water in the enchanted
bottle. Learn what you can do with the bottle - you can put a ghost's tear in
it, but first you have to put the spirit to rest.
Also do not forget to pickpocket both the mayor and his wife - you get a Ring
of Protection +1 and some nice mage scrolls.
We are done here, so get out and move north.

Enter the building at (2230,990) and talk to Phaen. Very soon you find out he's
a traitor, and you get 300 exp for exposing him. You can either kill him, or if
you have Diplomacy skill, you can try to bargain with him and get from him
information about his master. If you kill him you get 300 exp, and 400 exp from
Elytharra. Elytharra also gives you some gold if you don't refuse it.
If you bargain with Phaen, you get more exp from Elytharra for the info about
the master. However, Phaen has a few items on him, so I decided to kill the
bastard.

NOTE: At various points of the game NPC's will give you gold as rewards. The
amount of gold you receive depends on your skills (Intimidate, Diplomacy). I
will not mention the amount you get, because it depends.

NOTE: Paladins and monks tend to refuse rewards offered to them, so unless you
don't need any money, don't initiate dialogue with them when reporting of
quests done.

At (2030,790) you meet you good old friend from IWD - Oswald Fiddlebender. When
you first talk to him, you can tell hem that he owes you five gp - and to
reimburse you the debt he will give you a Potion of Freedom. Nice item, or 50
gp worth. Pickpocket him for two more potions.

Now move to the north of the town, not forgetting to search barrels, stashes,
etc. Enter the Temple Pavillion at (1290,650). First of all talk to the priests
at the top of the pavillion, and you might want to buy something from their
store. You can also pickpocket them both for some clerical scrolls.

Now go to the laying guy on the left - Valin Goldencross - and pickpocket him.
You will get various items, but keep pickpocketing until you get a message. It
is a message to you - you can bring him back to consiousness by giving him some
braehg. Remember, we have some from Salty Dog, so talk to Valin and give him a
sip. You get 300 exp, and some gold.

Now talk to the laying guy in the bottom - Garradun. He asks you to deliver a
letter to his love. ake the letter and talk to Denham Fisher - a cleric at the
top of the room. You get 300 exp for revealing Garradun's plan to Denham, and
learn Garradun is a dopplehanger. Now talk to Garradun, and tell him that you
know he is not sleeping. Expose him for 300 exp, and kill him for another 300
exp.

Go out, and head back to the inn. Inform Cahl-Hyred about the potion for 400
exp, and ask about the spirit. Offer help in putting the widow to rest, and get
the key to her room. Go upstairs, and first search all other rooms. Then enter
the widow room, talk to the spirit. If you are a cleric, you can just banish
the ghost for 400 exp. It will be very unwise of you, because you will lose exp
and a nice magic item.

Another way - ask about her husband, and go downstairs. Talk to the innkeep, and
learn about the death of Veina's husband, Donovan. Learn that Gohar, the
bartender at Salty Dog, might know the details about Donovan's death. Head to
the Docks, talk to Gohar, get the board from the ship, go to Weeping Widow, talk
to Veina, receive 400 exp for putting her to rest. Ask about a last favor, and
get 400 exp for getting the tear. Go down, talk to Cahl-Hyred, and get 600 exp
(you also get that amount if you just banish the ghost).

Now go to the mayor's house, talk to Elytharra. You can either sell the ghost
tear for 500 gp (700 with Diplomacy), or enchant an item. I got a +2 enchanted
dagger, with a worth of 1150 gp - but I kept it - it is really neat.

You can also get some maore exp for freeing Valin - but it is not that simple.
First you have to start talking of Ely being a mage, then you have at some point
ask whether magic has been of any use against goblins, and then you learn that
the city's diviner, Valin has gone ill. Then you can get 300 exp for telling
that you have returned him to his senses.

We are done here, and let's go north to the palisade.

AR1200

From the entrance go up to (2440,2210) and talk to the Weapons Instructor. Point
out that the recruits are not holding the spear right, break the barrel, teach
jab-defend-jab move for 450 exp.

Move up some more, not forgetting to hold the Alt key. Talk to the Drill
Sergeant, and if you have either CHA > 13, or you are a cleric, you can either
inspire, or bless the soldiers for 450 exp.

At (3320,1680) there is a man, standing in front of the shield rack and staring
at it. Use someone with Bluff skill to fool him - tell heim they are waiting for
him at the northern wall. You get a nice shield.

Now move right, and down to (3230,2270) and talk to Niles. He wants a bottle.
You have one from the Docks, and you can give it to him for 400 exp. If you have
someone with Diplomacy, talk him out of drinking and force him to return to his
post - 600 exp.

Go left and down around a building and enter it. You can heal youself here for
free, and you also talk to Shawford Crale. He gives you the assignment to talk
to the engineer - Olap Tamewater.

Go out and up, and first talk to Anson at
(3240,1440). He will tell you that the commanders will give you a bunch of
FedEx quests, so you better get yourself a decent runner. When ending a
conversation, don't forget to ask him how he managed to kill all the rats in the
arehouse at the Docks. You learn about the fate of Firtha's poor cat, Loki.
Up some more, and at (3210,980) you can participate in a keg-shooting contest.
Ask for a longbow as a bet, and shoot the barrel.

Now move to the northern end of the Palisade and talk to Olap at (2680,540). Get
an assignment to fix the crane, and ask whether you can use Swift Thomas as a
runner. This Thomas will eventually shorten your travel about Targos A LOT.

Head all the way down and left, and talk to Caulder at (920,2710). If you are
gnome, dwarf, halfing, or have intimidate skill, you can persuade him that he
needs help in fixing the catapult. For this you get 450 exp. To repair it, you
need a hammer - remember, we have one from the Docks, so repair the thing and
get another 450 exp.

Go right, and talk to a boy - Swift Thomas - he knows all the shortcuts and can
move you around town very quickly. Talk to him and go to the Docks.

First of all, talk to Jorun Tamewater, and get from him a spare wheel to fix
Lumbar's crane. Then go to Firtha's house,a nd inform her of Loki's fate; you
get 300 exp. Persuade her not to curse Anson out of town - we need every sword
we can get. Done here, talk to Thomas (he is where you left him at the exit to
town) and go to town. Talk to Lumbar, fix the crane for 300 exp. Now with
Thomas' help go to the Palisade, talk to Olap, then to Crale, and get 600 exp.

Crale will give you your next assingment - talk to Isherwood about the arrows
supply. You can find him at the western part of the palisade (section above
Caulder). Talk to him, and move to the Gallaway Depot. Once there, you can do
three things:
1) If you have high enough intimidate, you can put the arrogant b.... at bay,
and get the needed amount of arrows for free. But if you do so, you will not
exacly improve her attitude to you - and you still have things to buy from her.
2) If not, you can pay for the arrows with your own money - 50 gp.
3) Third and best - buy 8 packs of arrows for 8 gp, go to Palisade, talk to
Isherwood and use diplomacy or intimidate skill to force him take your arrows.
When you do that, you get a few Flaming Oils, 600 exp, and after talking to
Crale, 600 more. In either of three cases you get 1200 exp.

Crale gives you your third assignment - talk to Koluhm and decipher the rant of
a dead goblin. Go to town, talk to Koluhm. Now if you are any race but human,
you can tell Koluhm that your race knows a bit of goblin speech, and you will
translate goblin's speech. If you are human with INT > 10, then you can tell him
that you picked up som of the goblin speech during your travels. If, in the
weirdest of cases, you are soloing a human barbarian with INT of 3, you can make
Koluhm write the goblin speech down, and you will bring it to Ulbrec for
deciphering. Anyway, for deciphering it yourself, you get 900 exp.

Talk to Crale and get another 900 exp, then get your final assignment - deal
with Iron Collar mercenaries. Now we get to deal with arrogant sons of ....
Go to Salty Dog Tavern, talk to Iron Collar, and tell them that they are
expected to report to Palisade as soon as possible. Then, you have three
possibilities:
1) If you have diplomacy skill, then you can tell them that because they were
associated in some way with Phaen, they may be considered traitors and dealt
with accordingly. They will finally agree to report to Crale.
2) Use intimidate skill, to threat them that they will have their contracts
revoked, and they will be kicked out in the fields swarming with goblins. They
will also accept to carry out their duties.
In both cases you get 600 exp for convincing them, and 900 exp after reporting
to Crale.
3) Just kill them all after insulting them. You get 450 exp for insulting them,
150 x 3 for each bandit, and 600 exp from Crale. So exp-wise it is even again.
The slight benefit is getting some items, but nothing really worthy.

In any case, when you enter the Palisade and about to talk to Crale, save your
game, because you will not get this chance in the nearest future. As soon as you
are done talking with Crale, goblin forces attack. As soon as you are able to
move, get out and start fighting.

NOTE: Try to use your healing potions and Flaming Oils (or Burning Oils) AS
LITTLE as possible, because you will NEED them later in Chapter 1, where the
battles are much harder.

After you kill all three goblin leaders, talk to Crale, and ask him to pay you,
and get 1000 gp. After that, talk to Ulbrec and receive 500 exp.

Make a last visit to the Gallaway Trade Depot, and head out of the Palisade in
the direction of Shaengarne River.

Congratulations, you have beaten the Prologue.

===============================================================================

  CHAPTER 1
  ---------

NOTE: Starting from Chapter 1 there are quests and tasks that can have multiple
solutions, and it is hard to tell (even with use of some advanced utils like
Near Infinity) what the outcome of a certain choice might be without playing it
through. When writing this soution, I follow the path that gives maximum (IMHO)
possible exp, and is mostly good-oriented. I intend to update this solution
after my second run with the evil party and give info on other possible choices.

NOTE: This chapter is very combat-oriented, so not too many quests here, and
IMHO it is very good for a change.

AR 2000

When you enter the area, you first talk to Torak. He threatens you with death,
blah, blah,... When the cutscene is over, don't hurry to break the kegs. You
might get killed, so use your ranged attackers to take one orc at a time.

Basically you need just to kill everyone in sight and advance to (1960,1170),
where you free Dereth Springsong, the Druid. He thanks you for rescuing him, and
gives you 750 exp. He asks you to clear his house from goblins at (2600,1670),
but you should have already done that, and you get 500 more exp. He also asks
you to find his wife Sabrina, and then unbarres log and rock jam that leads to
the ford, and you watch another cutscene. For finding the path to the Ford you
get another 500 exp. Press Alt, and to the north of the place where you meet
Dereth you see a log that you can remove with your blade. Do that, and also
search the stashes.

Go along the path just opened to you by Dereth, and after killing a bunch of
goblins meet at (300,980) Sabrina Fairwynd, his wife. You get 500 exp for
freeing her. She tells you about the goblin ambush and layout, you get 375 exp.
Offer to escort Sabrina to her house, and get 375 exp - chivalry is not dead.

Go back to Dereth's house, and talk to Dereth again. He gives you another 375
exp and a nice Scimitar +1. You also can get healing and buy some scrolls from
both of them.

NOTE: When buying healing from priests, always buy a bunch of Cure Light Wounds.
Trust me, it will be three times cheaper, than buying any other healing.

Follow the path opened to you by Sabrina, and destroy the ambush. After that,
head up the river by the left side, and remove the log from the jam at (1650,980)
(just attack it) on this side of the river. The path is clear, and after a final
interview with Torak and some more orc killing you proceed to the next area.

AR2001

Start the fight with orcs, and a priestess comes to you aid, after you see a
Troll steal something from her. Turns out it is her blade, and a powerful
one too. You can do the following:
1) accept to return a blade to her
2) try to kill her and keep the blade

Whether you killed her or not, you have to move east and recover the blade. As
you approach the orc camp, Kaitlin Silvertongue comes up to you and asks for your
help. It turns out that Torak holds the villagers hostage on a nearby mill, and
the doors can only be opened from inside the camp. But at (2240,1520) you can
get a potion of Invisiblity, so quaff it, open the gate to the mill (just turn
left from the camp entrance), and then get back out. Or use your thief and just
Hide to keep the potion.

Go to the mill, kill the guards, get 250 exp for freeing the villagers. Don't
forget to loot the stashes. After that go back to Kaitlin, talk to her and get
750 exp. You also can go to (2600,1710) - talk to Arte there, and you now have
another store with some nice items. Arte can also identify items, in case you
don't have anyone with sufficient Knowledge (Arcana) skill.

Next thing to do - kill Torak. Enter the camp, slaughter everyone, loot the
place (don't forget to take a key from Torak's body) and enter the cave at
(2590,370). Just kill everyone in there, including the Troll - Vrek. Get the
blade - it is actually a +4 enchanted moonblade, no less. Go back out - you can
see that the path to the river is blocked by the landslide, so you'll have to
find a way to the River.

Talk to Kaitlin again, and receive 375 more exp for killing Torak. She also tells
you about the mountain pass and you receive 375 exp for finding another way.

Now bak to the moonblade business. If you haven't killed Emma, you can do three
things:
1) If you have HIGH Diplomacy or Intimidate skills, you can talk her into
giving you the blade as a reward, so you get 750 exp and a blade.
2) Just give the blade back - you get 2000 gp and 750 exp.
3) Just keep the blade and never talk to Emma again (if you don't have any good-
aligned chars in your party - and the blade is usable only by good characters,
you can sell it for 2500 gp).

With the key you got from Torak open the gate at the mill - (750,550) and move
on to the next area.

AR2100

Not much to say here - kill everyone, don't forget to loot the stashes at
(1920,470) and (390,760), and move on to the mext area at (230,570).

AR2101

Same thing here - kill everyone, loot the place thoroughly. After that you need
to do two things:
1) Destroy the support beams at (2460,600), then (1300,600), and then (180,720).
The second beam is not very easy to locate, it is near the construction platform
and you have to destroy it with your ranged weapons. It beats me though how you
can destroy a huge wooden log with arrows and bullets, but heh...
After you make the dam useless, you get 750 exp.
2) After destroying the last support beam, some lumber is put into your
inventory and you can use it to form a bridge at (420,1160).

Now you can proceed to the next area.

AR2102

As you enter this area, you get to watch a little cutscene; if you do not act
fast, you are going to lose the bridge. So do not get carried away in the
fights with all the monsters, and get moving right to the Ogres on the bridge.
As you approach, Xuki (mage leader of Orcs) talks to you. Choose the last
option, and you will get 525 more exp for not letting distract yourself from
your goal. Kill Ogres first, then Xuki, then Malarite High Priest, and then
everyone else in the area. Be sure to loot the entire area afterwards.

NOTE: If you manage to kill everybody, but the bridge is destroyed - you do not
HAVE to reload - losing the bridge will just give you less exp, but the game is
playable as well. Your next task will also be the same whether you keep the
bridge or not.

The exit from this area to Targos is at (80,1070). Go to the Palisade first.

Back in Targos
--------------

If you are interested in a monetary compensation, talk to Crale and he will give
you 3000 gp. Then go to town and talk to Ulbrec, he will give you 1575 exp and a
new assignment - destroy the Horde's fortress. Leave the city through the
Palisade.

HORDE'S FORTRESS
----------------

AR3000

As you enter this area you get to talk to Ennelia. You learn about the location
of the goblin fortress, and about some entrance to the east of the spot you are
at the moment. Learn about her wounds, and give her a healing potion for 525 exp.

Now lets pcodees to killing the goblinoids. Move east and up a little bit, cross
the bridge and kill the tower guards. then move further east and down along the
path, and arrive to the locked gate at (3040,2490). You can't pick/bash the lock
so you'll have to find a key.

NOTE: Do as Ennelia suggests - destroy all the war drums you can get to. Those
war drums teleport Worg Riders to the back lines of your party, where your
weakest characters are, and it is a PITA.

Move back west across the bridge, and then up along the path. The battle is a
bit easier here and you get to loot the tents at (600,820). Move northeast over
the bridge, and kill the tower guards. Move a bit east, and at the top of the
map you can see the entrance to the fortress. If you decide to rush there, you
will fail - the entrance is protectesd by a wardstone that you don't have. So
prepare for a bigg battle with war drums - you will not get the chance to
destroy it until the last minute of a battle, so it will keep teleporting Worg
Riders to the back of your party. Move east and kill everyone. On an Orc Shaman
named Trugnuk you find a key that you need - it will open the gate in the south-
east. Move to the gate, open it, and fight a few Ogres and Trolls to gain access
to the Barracks in the underground.

NOTE: Don't forget to loot tents at (3530,940).
NOTE: The bridge at (2430,1000) is trapped!

AR3001

This level is INFESTED with monsters. You probably will have to rest here a
couple times. First move west to the locked door; you need a password, and you
don't know it, and there is no way in Hell (or any skill) that will get the door
opened now. So move down, and start fighting. Kill, loot, kill, loot. Move
further to the west, until you find a small cavern at (1700,1780). There is a
friendly goblin in there that will give you the password if you give him smth to
eat. To do that, fight your way to the northwest to the locked door at (1010,1310).
Open it and kill al the spiders that you will encounter. Take a few of the spider
bodies to Pondmuk at (1840,1560) and he will tell you the password - Chimera. You
get 1050 exp.

You can now get the locked door open, but it is not needed. Move northwest
through the spider door, then up, then east, killing the monsters alongway. After
you kill everyone in sight, go into another cavern ant talk to Yqoug at
(2970,1290). He will ask you to bring him a message from his masters, kept by
the decanter goblin Kruntur on the next level. He also tells you that the
passage is being held by his minions, and he tells you the password - it is Xvim.
Head to the top-right corner of the map and enter the next level.

NOTE: Don't talk to Yquog with a paladin - you will then have to kill him.

AR3002

More killing to do. Advance west, not forgetting to loot crates and dead bodies.
On the body of Orog Taskmaster you will find Black Ward Stone - you will need it.
Move along the cave to (420,1430) and talk to Yqoug minions - say the password
and they will let you through. Enter Kruntur's camp and talk to him - in order
to give up the message he needs some bracers that Yquog took from his dead
brother Krunbar. Agree to bring the bracers, go back to Yquog, convince him to
give you the bracers, go back to Kruntur, give the bracers to him, get the
message scroll and receive a whopping 3150 exp for doing the quest right. You
will also get some item. Now back to Yqoug, give him the message and receive
1400 exp. He will also give you an item - to me he gave a +2 enchanted hammer
with extra electrical damage - not bad.

Now back to Kruntur's level, and this time go up and right (instead of left).
Kill everyone and everyhing (meaning the wardrum), until you get to the stairway
up at (2460,400). Now you you should have two wardstones - one from before, and
one from one of the leaders you have just slaughtered. Go up the stairs - you
are finally inside the fortress.

NOTE: The stairway is trapped!

AR3100

You will have to fight a long, hard battle here with Orc Shamans, High Shamans,
Witch Doctors, Sorcerers, Elite archers, Goblin Overseers, Orogs, Half-Goblins,
etc, etc.....

Kill everyone and loot the place. Are you ready for the last battle here?
Enter the door at (810,1140).

AR3101

Kill the bugbears, then kill the Old Orc Shaman who appears at the entrance door.
Take a key from his body and move forward. As you enter the door, you get to
watch a cutscene with Guthma and Sherincal - the half-dragon woman. After that
kill everyone includung Guthma at (1570,1000) and an Orge Jailkeep at
(1310,1270). Take a key from Jailkeep's body and open the cell at the bottom
right corner to free Braston, Ennelia's companion and lover. Loot the place, but
beware of the traps - there are lots of them.

Leave Guthma's quarters, and leave the fortress by the front gate.
As soon as you go through the gate, Braston leaves the party ahd hurries up to
meet Ennelia. In fact he goes SLOWLY, and if you rush to talk to her, you will
get to Ennelia before he arrives. If you do that you will lose some exp and a
magic item. So it is in your interest to wait a bit, and before talking to
Ennelia be sure that Braston is already around.

Now go back to Targos.

Targos Palisade and Town
------------------------

Talk to Crale and get 6000 gp. After that go to town, and before talking to
Ulbrec buy all the needed magic items from Gallaway, Lady Elytharra, and Priests
in the Temple Pavillion. If you feel that you need some item from the store at
the Shaengarne Ford, you can go there freely from the Palisade.

After you are done with stocking up, talk to Ulbriec and receive 2150 exp. He
tells you of your new assingment - fly to the Western Pass with Oswald. You get
the very, very strange feeling that something will go wrong...

Talk to Oswald, get on he ship, and after watching a movie find yourself on the
crashed ship in the middle of the mountains. Congratulations, that was the end
of Chapter 1.
