Microsoft Office 2000 Premium LVP To RETAIL Without Patches

How to install a FULL RETAIL unpatched version of
Office 2000 Premium from Office 2000 Premium LVP discs.
You will need at a MINIMUM Disc 1 and Disc 2 of the complete 4 CD set.

Q1: What is LVP?
A1: LVP stands for License Verification Program.
    M$ introduced this with Office 2000 LVP. They are special
    LVP CDs purchased cheaply by students ie. Academic versions.
    They require not only valid CD keys, but a Confirmation Number
    to be obtained from M$ on every install. You will have to
    enter this Confirmation Number before the 50th launch of any
    Office 2000 program in order to register Office 2000. You will
    not be able to run any Office 2000 program after the 50th launch
    without registration. The LVP CDs have all the files of the full
    retail package, but with this LVP scheme enabled. With a little
    trick, and NOT a patch, the LVP version can be installed as the
    FULL RETAIL Office 2000 Premium version.
    For more LVP info, look at the Microsoft Office for Windows Glossary
    http://support.microsoft.com/support/office/off2k/gloss.asp#lvp

Q2: How do I know if I have LVP CDs?
A2: Look at the AUTORUN.INF on Disc 1 of 4 of your
    Office 2000 Premium and if you find
    "DisplayName=Microsoft Office 2000 Premium LVP"
    then you have them.

Q3: What are the discs in the complete Office 2000 Premium LVP package?
A3: CD 1 of 4: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook,
               Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access,
               Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0
    CD 2 of 4: Microsoft Publisher
               Microsoft Small Business Tools
               Shared Clip Art
    CD 3 of 4: Microsoft PhotoDraw Disc 1
               Microsoft Office Server Extensions
    CD 4 of 4: Microsoft PhotoDraw Disc 2
               Insert this content disc while running PhotoDraw

Q4: The Disc 1 and 2 key GC6J3-GTQ62-FP876-94FBR-D3DX8
    does not need registration?
A4: Yes, but if you try and install any updates such as
    SR-1 or SR-1a from http://office.microsoft.com, you
    will soon find out that all Office 2000 programs will
    exit immediately. The reason for this is that M$ has
    blacklisted this key. See the following for more info
    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q255/5/03.ASP
    If you are happy with Office 2000 Premium without any updates,
    then just use the above key.

Q5: There are patches available to fix this SR-1 problem?
A5: If you are happy with these timeout/nag patches to your
    Office 2000 files, such as MsOfCrack.exe which patches
    MSO9.DLL, then go with those, but be warned that any future
    updates may need another patch. The procedure below will
    work for all future updates, as it is NOT a patch in any
    way, but uses a ProductID generated by the M$ Office 2000
    install program itself which is a FULL RETAIL ProductID
    generated from YOUR discs on YOUR machine.

Q6: What keys should I use then?
A6: Disc 1: DT3FT-BFH4M-GYYH8-PG9C3-8K2FJ
    Disc 2: DT3FT-BFH4M-GYYH8-PG9C3-8K2FJ
    Disc 3: 100-0000000
    Disc 4: <none required>
    The above Disc 1 and 2 key is from a full retail
    version of Office 2000 Premium. You must follow
    the procedure below to install a full retail
    version of Office 2000 Premium with this key
    using the Office 2000 Premium LVP discs. You
    will need at MINIMUM both Disc 1 and Disc 2.
    If you only have Disc 1, then you are out of
    luck, and will have to be content with Q4/Q5
    above. The reason being is that the Disc 2
    installation program generates a FULL RETAIL
    ProductID from YOUR disc set on YOUR computer.
    Why I think M$ have done this is so that
    the Confirmation Number nag screen will not
    come up twice. In effect, Publisher 2000 is
    installed with a FULL RETAIL ProductID and
    no nags! What this REALLY means is that
    there is a FULL RETAIL ProductID in plain
    view in the registry. Thanks M$idiots!

------------------------
FULL RETAIL INSTALLATION
------------------------

1. Uninstall ALL current Office 2000 discs
   COMPLETELY if any. Make sure you reboot
   to a clean start. By this I mean that
   Windows loads WITHOUT any "Configuring ..."
   or similar messages on startup. This
   usually means two or more Restarts after any
   program or disc (un)installation, the first
   reboot will have the "Configuring ..." box
   and further Restarts will eventually just
   load Windows normally. THIS APPLIES TO
   ALL THE SEPERATE DISC INSTALLATIONS BELOW!

2. Install Disc 1 using SETUP.EXE.
   Use the key: DT3FT-BFH4M-GYYH8-PG9C3-8K2FJ
   DO NOT RUN ANY OFFICE PROGRAMS AFTER REBOOT(S).
   Tip: Copy all files to a temporary directory
        on your hard disk first. It is much faster!

3. Install Disc 2 using SETUP.EXE.
   Use the key: DT3FT-BFH4M-GYYH8-PG9C3-8K2FJ
   DO NOT RUN ANY OFFICE PROGRAMS AFTER REBOOT(S).
   Tip: Copy all files to a temporary directory
        on your hard disk first. It is much faster!

4. [OPTIONAL] Install Disc 3 using AUTORUN.EXE.
   Use the key: 100-0000000
   DO NOT RUN ANY OFFICE PROGRAMS AFTER REBOOT(S).
   Tip: Copy all files to a temporary directory
        on your hard disk first. It is much faster!

5. If you have not run any office programs as instructed,
   you will most likely have a nearly empty registry branch at
   [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\User information]
   Microsoft stores its user data here for use with the
   Registration Wizard executed by "REGWIZ.EXE /R".
   Use the Registry Editor REGEDIT.EXE to view the registry.
   BE CAREFUL!! Careless use of REGEDIT can trash your system.
   If by chance you have started an Office program, you
   will have got the Confirmation Number nag request
   saying that there are 50 launches left. If you were
   at this screen, you should click the "Register Later"
   button. Either way, it is not important. Why would
   you go through it and send M$ all your info anyhow?
   The branch above will be filled with any data you
   provided, ready for sending to M$ once you provide
   a valid Confirmation Number. NONE OF THIS IS NECESSARY!

6. This is the fun bit. It uses REGEDIT, and as mentioned
   above, careless use of REGEDIT can trash your system.
   YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! If you have not used REGEDIT
   before or do not know how to start REGEDIT then I am
   NOT about to start a long how-to tutorial. Get someone
   who knows. Run REGEDIT.EXE. Navigate to branch
   [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall]
   You will see two branches near the top
   {00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}
   {00040409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}
   These are GUIDs for Disc 1 and Disc 2 respectively.
   Each GUID branch has many fields, two being "DisplayName" and "ProductID".
   For example:
   Disc 1 {00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7} fields:
   "DisplayName"="Microsoft Office 2000 Premium"
   "ProductID"="50637-000-0000716-02075"
   Disc 2 {00040409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7} fields:
   "DisplayName"="Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2"
   "ProductID"="50158-000-0000716-02314"
   What we have here are two ProductIDs, the first for
   Disc 1 "50637-000-0000716-02075" is the one which will
   give you a nag screen for Confirmation Number and a
   50 time limit timeout. WE DO NOT WANT THIS LVP CRAP!
   Ahhh! But the second is a FULL RETAIL ProductID which
   will NOT have any nags or timeout limits. Could it
   be as simple as copying the Disc 2 ProductID to the
   Disc 1 ProductID? Well, hell yes!! Use Ctrl-C to copy
   the Disc 2 ProductID field value, and Ctrl-V to paste
   it in the Disc 1 ProductID field value.
   You should end up with the same Disc 2 ProductID for
   both Disc 1 and Disc 2 GUIDs. For example:
   Disc 1 {00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7} fields:
   "DisplayName"="Microsoft Office 2000 Premium"
   "ProductID"="50158-000-0000716-02314"
   Disc 2 {00040409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7} fields:
   "DisplayName"="Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2"
   "ProductID"="50158-000-0000716-02314"
   After you are sure of what you have done, use
   the REGEDIT menu Registry then Exit to save changes
   to the Registry and exit REGEDIT.
   The above procedure can be used in any M$ operating
   system. The principle is the same in all, simply
   copy the Disc 2 ProductID into the Disc 1 ProductID
   using the appropriate OS Registry Editor.

7. Close all programs and Restart the computer clean.
   Run any or all of your Office 2000 Premium programs
   to configure them etc. and you will NEVER get a nag or
   timeout. Use the web http://office.microsoft.com to
   get your SR-1, SR-1a, SR-2, etc. updates for your
   now FULL RETAIL version of Office 2000 Premium
   without any troubles or required patches.
   If you ever have a problem in future with updates,
   the most likely cause will be that, for example,
   an SR-3 update may have BLACKLISTED the key
   DT3FT-BFH4M-GYYH8-PG9C3-8K2FJ. I doubt this will
   happen, but if it does, use the above procedure
   with another known FULL RETAIL M$ Office 2000 Premium
   key and all should be well unless you happen to find
   another M$ BLACKLISTED key.
