Hey guys, I have a little Problem with my Hardlock e-y-e dongle here.
I dumped it with BF-method from Sp0raws hl-dump (last change on 02.02.2006 in changelog). I got the .reg and .dat file, also I got the MODAD.
After this I tried to get the seeds with hl_solver, but it gives me following seeds:
Seed1=0xCDD, Seed2=0xB9C8, Seed3=0x36B0
So the first seed is incorrect.
I also tried UniDmp2Reg(v.1.1b5) with vusbbus, but it's not working either.

Did I use the wrong tools or did I make a mistake somwhere?

I hope anybody can help me with this problem.

thanks a lot

charlie

@trcharlie and all other dongle dumper users out there:

do not forget, the following is MY opinion and perhaps not the opinion of the admins and moderators of the board.
Such questions are definitivly NOT related to advanced reversing and programming. using a tool is still a job billion of people out there are able to do. if at all you should post such question in the newbiez section and i don't doubt at all that most of the newbiez which never dealt with dongles are quite more advanced the the average "Dongle-Dumper-User"-Reverser.

i'm really sick of all that boring, not a bit advanced dongle dumping stuff and the more i'm sick of its users. it cool to crack dongles, its interesting of course and you should continue it but please:

do not use unpacker and think you are a reverser
do not use a pre build solution to cheat a protection and think you are a reverser.
do not read a tutorial for a certain protection and defeat the described application and then think you are the master of disaster. its still not the point of the RCE-Idea.

Sorry that you get hurt by my anger at that dongle stuff but i can not stand it any longer.

PS: i just saw that you have 1 single Post. Probably we will never see you again as the other dongle dumper users out there.

If i had the possibility to prohibit questios for "How to use dongle dumper XYZ" i would catch it...

Yeh, probably you won't see me again anymore. Not because my question is answered, but because of such posts. I don't say, I'm a reversing programmer. I can't do it. But this may be a step into it. I'm interested in the topics, but without any success after 2 days of work I don't know, if this maybe the wrong thing for me. I don't care about the 350$ for the unlocking of any company, but I wanted to do this myself. I know very well that there must be hundreds of people who ask such things and 'spam' such boards. I read mostly every article of them. And I really tried getting into it. But if it's not able for me to make it with tools, than i don't think I can do this completely on my own.

regards, charlie

sorry but

ONCE AND FOR ALL: CRACKING DONGLES IS NOTHING FOR NEWBIEZ AND IT WILL NEVER BE, SAME REFERS TO OTHER PROTECTIONS LIKE FLEXLM AND GAMEPROTECTIONS !

It's everything about patience and hardheadedness, thats the whole game. get it or forget it.

PS: i forgot one important thing. when i started reversing i had the same questions and started with similar stuff AND i got the same discouraging answers like you got. but there is a difference to many other newbiez which started at the same time like i did. i'm still here. think about it.

honey, calm down.
I know, it's all about the basics.
What we are discussing about?
You don't want me to ask questions? Or you don't want anybody who is new to ask questions? I don't care. I asked one or two (i think really simple for a pro) questions cause I got stuck. You don't want to answer. That's ok for me. I just hoped that maybe somebody would help me get out in a few lines.

Hello trcharlie,

Welcome to the board. I hope you will attempt get past your initial feelings and continue frequenting the board. We are not *that* bad people.

The core concept of this board is to help resolve reverse engineering issue. However, we have a few ground rules:

1. We do not ask for cracks (you did not - kudos for that!)

2. We assist people in resolving where they are *stuck*.

3. We do not giving pre-canned, solutions.

However, as you will realize you need to tell us what you have done. After all, only when you have done something, can you be stuck. Unfortunately, running a tool is not work. "XYZ tool giving wrong result, please help" is not what would be considered as i-have-done-something. But AFTER giving wrong results, describing the efforts that you have put in to determine what went wrong and HOW and WHERE you got stuck in determining that, will get you much better responses here.

All in all, we are quite helpful as will be attested by many answers to good questions.

I do hope you return often.

Have Phun

CrackZ:

In the sense that "every cloud has a silver lining," notice the "warm and fuzzy" tone of Aimless' Post. Worth the wait, just to see that.

Simply magnificent ;-).

JMI, you can see that Aimless likes to try and see the *learning potential* in everyone, overwhelming odds or not; I don't think I'm ever going to be "hugging a newbie" anytime soon ;-).

Regards,

CrackZ.
