GAMMA Lesson: cracking a serial number Target: NoteWorthy Composer v1.70 32bit Aim: Newbies Tutor: nAbUkO - This document's purpose is education. I am not responsible for anything resulting from the use of the information or from the information itself provided in this document. - Tool needed: SoftICE (v4.05) - I. Cracking serial number for NoteWorthy Composer v1.70 32bit II. Way III. Greetings - I. We enter our name: 'Sexy Silke' (again ;]), and a serial number: '67676767'. Now we switch to SoftICE by pressing 'Ctrl-D', and type 'bpx hmemcpy'. Then we switch back to NWC ('Ctrl-D') and click on the 'OK' button; SoftICE immediately pops up. We press 'F5' to get both inputs into memory (name and serial number). Then we press 'F11'. Using 'F10' we're tracing thru till we reach 0041C413. Typing 'd 76F39C' (we get this address when we proceed as described in II) we can see the serial number we entered in the data window. A few lines below there is another string ('000-816-378109') that looks interesting simply because it does not look as disorderly as the rest of the memory contents. So, could this be the suitable serial number for our name? We try it out and NWC is registered. II. Just keep an eye on the registers and check their values and contents ('d' command). Look for the name and serial number you entered ('s' command). That is the most important thing. III. Greetings out to all crackers and Piotr, Markus, Söb, Jan+Heike, Mad Duke and Silke (I love you forever). - cu nAbUkO
