Hi,
I have a dongle labelled Sentinel-C Rainbow, it protects some old DOS software which I need to run on a new Laptop, which doesn't have a parallel port.

After a quick read on here I can only find reference to the Sentinel C Pro. Assuming they where the same I downloaded safenet dumper and clicked dump, but dongle wasn't found. I then installed the driver and clicked dump again, now it is just sitting there 100% one my CPU cores.

Is there an idiots guide to emulating my dongle on the laptop, as I am not sure I know what I am doing?

Nah! Sentinel C/Pro are cracked long time ago and I'm sure many people on this forum can emulate it (need just a simple filter driver); As about your question..well..they don't help you because they don't wanna take ORDER like post from you or anyone else; you must do some work by yourself first and then post questions.

does it help..;)

Not really. I spent a couple of days googling and trying various pieces of software before asking here. All the post I have read refer to Sentinel-C B, Pro, ProSuper or other, mine is a version A. I can not find any reference to version A only (not pro A, just Rainbow Sentinel-C Version A, that's all it says on the dongle).

I assumed some versions where similar and tried the method and software suggested in other posts. I downloaded dumper (from http://www.donglebackup.com/sentsbs.html) and ran it. It said no dongle found try advanced search, which 100% my CPU for about 15 minutes and did nothing.

I have searched throughout this forum and can't find anything that has helped. If someone can point me to a post which will help or offer advice for a "Rainbow Sentinel-C Version A", I would be very grateful.

I have the original software for developing fuelling maps for the 14CUX ECU. Without a dongle emulator I need a laptop with parallel port to try it, plus I may have to give the dongle back at some point. I need to stop my ECU over fuelling when cold, because I do a lot of short journeys and my plugs soon get sooted.

TIA, Andrew

The webpage for that dumper says quite clearly that it is for superpro and ultrapro. Sentinel C does not get a mention. This dumper does say it will do Sentinel C but does not mention versions, other than for Sentinel C Plus for which it will do versions A and B. Sure yours isn't a Plus?.

If that dumper works, post the dump here and maybe we can help, depending on it's format.

Hurrah that worked. Thanks Git!

The file it created is:

All the dongle says on it is Sentinal-C, Version A, Rainbow, Technologies Inc, Irvine CA and ^Computer^.

Great, now just follow the info in sparpacillon's post above and you will soon have a working emulator.

Still drawing a blank on a emulator. Sread is the only dumper I have found that has located the dongle, but I can't find an emulator which will use the .SAF file.

I've been problem solving all day at work and I'm starting to get a migraine

I think I'll call it a day and down some IPA.

One quick question, if the program I am using is DOS, would using VMware help with programs such as Toro Sentinel Monitor?
