Hi everybody, I would need ur help. I've got a program called Buxis running at work, ive made a copy and installed at home, but when you open the program, it opens a window asking for the Login/pasword. I enter Login:Buxis and password Blank and then appears a Msgbox saying : Registration Invalid (At work this works). I was looking this with Filemon and the program Looks two DLLs: crypto.dll (A DLL make it by the people of Buxis) and DES3.dll (the DES3 cryptography algorithm)... I also used Regmon and the EXE (Menu.exe) takes some information from the registry to used it in the method DesencriptarDES that is in crypto.dll... then makes a comparison to a place that i don't know and appears the message of Registration invalid. (part of the information that retrieves the EXE is the name of the ODBC server attribute, the ActiveComputerNameComputerName, the NetworkAddress, etc. that makes the computer unique)
If someone is interested to help, I've got all the information (Program and Databases) in my mail...
Thanks in advance
Andrew.

It sounds like the crypto .dll's are just for the encryption of login and password. Chances are (since its a new install) that there is a defualt login/password setup during install. Check for some documention on the program. I did a little bit of searching, but nothing 'useful' looking came up. If you can dig up the documentation to the program you'll prolly find the info youre looking for.

Hi Crudd, I restore a backup of two SQL Server Databases, it seems that maybe is what you are saying, or the Buxis Login is in some place into de DB... I was running Regmon at work and in some place it goes to a registry entry called RegisterDB and Query the value... the Crypto.dll decrypts BUXIS and compare that value to ur machine configuration (I think); but when it is not registered it asks you to select a file (provided it by Buxis) to register the Product, and when you select it, u can use it.... I think that the registration file is a .bxr file: when u select that file it should check your local machine information, encrypt that information and hides it in some place, and marks that registration file as used, so u can't use it anymore... Would u like to face this challenge?... I've got the .EXE and the Databases in my mail... I can guide u restoring the database, installing the program (:P) and configuring the DSN to connect...
Thanks for all Crudd,
Tribox.
