how did they do it - the dream team?

hi first time poster and newest neeb here.

I had a key gen for a old version of software ... that worked fine.

then i upgraded the original software to a newer trial version.

But then the time ran out , and the old key gen now doesnt work on the new trial version [ i get the key is expired error]

But also cant go back to old version cause it doesnt install cleanly now since installing later trial version.

The keygen was a 'dream team' exe. The software uses a 'machine id' and 'user name' to create the key.

Any pointers on where to start. Thinking i am a neewb on this what time frame would it take me to generate/reverse a new key?

How long would it take an expert/legend?

Any other suggestions? maybe reinstall windoze then old version again?
