View Full Version : .dsb Emergency Back up files
Hi,
Due to a problem I had on my laptop (virus) I restored entire system using Dell datasafe factory state.
I have also my backed up files using dell data safe. which i have a .exe file and files with .dsb extension.
When i click on the .exe file i get the following message:
backup.exe is not a valid win32 application
I've tried extracting the .exe using dell data safe and is not working. (i dont even get an erroe message).
Question: ?
1- It is possible to extract .DSB files using a different program?
2- is there a procedure iam not following correctly

the cause behind is the exe infected and damaged by virus, may be u can use some good antivirus to clean it but I don't know
I'm pretty sure that Dell Support forums are the correct place to ask: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19381137/19879593.aspx
I had Dell customer service log in to my laptop to repair the issue, they are absolutely clue less. They even made me purchase their Dell datasafe program which didn't help at all...
I'm going to try the safe mode today see how it goes.
any other comments/help would be appreciated :D :D

Backup your necessary files,
Reinstall windows and all required applications.
(Forget recovery --> Save time)
I am going to contact dell datasafe software company: Soft think to let them know about the software they've put in market & how useless it is.
I've contacted Dell and not one single person knows how to extract my files. It even cost me $40 to buy the full datasafe program
Any whom, long story short... I've reinstalled all my files and apps :D so far so good. Down side i've lost all my Music, movie and work files:eek:

well, i did call dell support 200x times (usless morons) and yes they did tell me to buy the program.
I bought it and installed it but i couldn't get my files back, because it makes some sort off reference to backed up files.
my OS system was corrupt so i couldn't get any files back. So if ur OS system was corrupt for any reason they dont bother, if not give it a go.
I suggest talking to (useless dell support) and discussing it with them.
gut luck!
