Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum, 25yrs old, mechanical engineer, working with CAD/CAM, making CNC programs for 3-axis milling machines to produce parts from steel or copper. I'm modeling 3d models of electrodes etc etc...

Anyway,

I own a sentinel super pro dongle (the software uses drivers v7.22).

The software has a simple text file where it keeps the keys for certain modules (features), with license validity period etc...

A friend of mine managed to "extract" special codes from the software (version 2006) and when these codes were put in the key file, software worked just fine.

He said that the keys were not hard to find (most likely plain text or something). This method would be much better then using dongle emulators.

Now I want to do the same thing, I want to see how he found the keys. Are there any tutorials on using IDA (or something similar)? I used softice a long time ago, I don't even know if it exists now...

Anyway, I'd love to learn and I don't give up easily ;)

Thanks for any tips/urls you may have for beginners
