Can't get dongle ID

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum :)

Some days ago a friend explains me a little problem he has with a software he bought and he lost the usb key that allows the software works...

I tell him I will try to solve the problem.

Well, I'm beign having fun with this coz I never tryed to "crack" any software with this security skill.

I've dissassembled the program and ... surprise !!

The code wich is calling the dongle routines is encrypted and it only shows in memory at runtime

After many headaches and "no sleeping hours" I finally found where it checks if the dongle is connected or not.

Ok, I can now enter into the program, but ...

Another surprise !!

This software is licensing every module with the usb key :/

I'm looking for the code wich is calling the validation routines for each module but the problem is ... I'm going out of time :(

I heared about dongle emulators and I think may be the fastest solution :)

I downloaded EdgesproFix and is not able to detect my dongle ...

Error: can't get dongle ID
Error: Initializing Sentinel SuperPro API

Any Ideas ?

if you have not the dongle inserted, how can you hope to have the dump done? :D (because edge make a dump of the dongle then create the dng file to be used with sentemul 2007)

I forgot to tell that I'm testing with another key ( Someone gives a key to my friend to make some tests for some days and he give it to me during this days)


Obviously I've got the usb key plugged in while I'm executing Edge's program :D

The problem seems to be that Edge's doen't recognize my usb key :/

And again ... any ideas ?

use another dumper.you did not say in clear words what type of dongle your prog is protected with.

It's a Rainbow SafeNet Sentinel (I'm not sure if it's ultra or super Pro)

I tried the dumper.exe located at dongleservice.com but it doesn't works either.

There are some many dumpers ?

search for PVA DUMPER 3.3 or use this

with those two tools you can surely dump your sentinel.

this is good tool and he automatic get the dongle ID, u don't find and put the dongle ID same like other dongle, this dumper auto finder.

If you are not sure what type it is, deselect WP option in PVA dumper.

Try to use SEARCH option of this forum before writing any threads, there is a lot of data for sentinel!

Well, finally I've got the model of my dongle :

Vendor : Rainbow/Sentinel dongle
Model : SafeNet Sentinel Hardware Key
Others : USB\VID_04B9&PID_8000&REV_0101

Extracted from USB Dongle Search v1.0b

I readed about it and ....

It seems to be very hard to emulate :(

I'm affraid the only way is to continue cracking the software part (it's very hard too coz the routines are deencrypted dynamically on memory and many checks to avoid debuggers and code scramble ... etc)

Code is difficult to patch coz there not exists in the .exe file (it exists encrypted and executable uses .net signature) ... I will make a DLL injection to try to patch the code dynamically on memory at run time...

I'm getting older for this :P

Any better idea ?

I've been read in this forum about this type of dongle and ... it seems that no dumper and no emulator published yet (well I readed it on many old posts, I'm not sure if actually exists some dumper and emulator for this dongles)

i have a tiny superpro dongle , i use pva 3.3 dumper . but nothing dumped . it can not dump the lpt dongle . does anybody have this dumper ?
edgespro is too slow . and sometimes can`t solve the algo.

Well ...

Finally I got it.

After my hollidays I disassembled the program again and I worked in for 2 nights and ... Now I'm able to use all features of the program without the USB dongle.

The way I'm making it to work is patching the code dynamically on memory with the help of OllyDbg.

Next week I will make an executable wich injects a DLL in the running program and patches it automatically :)

Well, it was hard coz it decrypts the validation routines in run time and the code is full of debug checkings and heartbeats traps ... but it was fun :D
