The combination of a phone tip and DNA evidence led to the arrest of a Bartow man accused of stabbing a Mulberry woman to death last month.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Marvin Brewer, 53, for the killing of Tammy Butler at her home. Deputies discovered Butler’s body March 22, and Sheriff Grady Judd said evidence suggests Butler, 58, died four days earlier.
Brewer had previously lived with Butler and came to her home March 18 to have sex with her, Judd said at a news conference Thursday morning.
