It is similair with Russia and Ukraine right now. You can't blame other countries for trying to contain Russia when Russia persistently pushes for expansion and an aggressive foreign policy. Containment policies aimed towards Germany (or Russia) were not result of others hating Germany, but of Germany acting as a bully instead of a leader.

Not only that, all Europeans would have been irreversibly kiked, too early to let grow a sane anti-semitism. Had Arminius failed to stop the Roman conquest, we would have never seen Luther, the Vikings nor Hitler Himself. Just imagine if every European nation had a pope Francis inside, telling them to destroy their genetic heritage: then imagine all of those pope francises doing that at Crusades' time. That's exactly what I was going to mention. The Battle of Tours stopped an insistent Muslim advance. There are some historians who doubt the invading forces could have driven much further anyway, but the eventual prospect of an Islamic Europe was there without that defeat.

Russia only reacted to western expansionism. Ukraine is ancient Russia land and the homeland of the Russian people, it belongs to Russia.

That's what Russia says. Ukraine was and is by far the poorest country in Europe, despite being in the 'God-given' Russian sphere forever. Russia was not a true leader to Ukraine, so they chose another one. And what Russia did in reaction to that is to attack them, as all bullies do.

All that the battle of Teutoberg Forest did was delay the introduction of Christianity to Germany by 700 years. That religion would later be introduced (forced) on Germany by other Germans--the Franks--under Charlemagne. So I can quite see why Teutoberg Forest was left off the list.

As I see it, the point of including Columbus' voyage in this list was not whether he landed on an island or the mainland (in fact one of his later voyages did reach the mainland) but rather that it was this voyage which started the modern colonization of North America by Europeans.
