shitposting-what-is-the-bizarre-online-behaviour-that-could-win-donald-trump-the-election-the-independent
Can the current year get much better than it already has?

Look at the above headline. No, give it a good glance.

Isn't it wonderful?

Major publications are reporting on our shitposting as if it was a dangerous natural catastrophe, a veritable force of nature. They're afraid.

They should be.

The Independent:

A secretive group is posting memes across the internet to try and win the election for Donald Trump.

The group came to mass attention when it emerged that they were being funded by Palmer Luckey, the maker of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and Facebook employee. But it is just the latest example of what the group refers to explicitly as “shitposting” in the 2016 election – what might be the first Presidential vote decided in part by memes.

Palmer lucky is a White goy, who developed the the Occulus Rift but sold the company to Facebook for a few billion dollars.

Apparently, now he's funding research and development programs to create new memes supporting Donald Trump.

Yes, this is real life.

Welcome to a new world.

The group is called Nimble America and appears to have been founded precisely to “shitpost” – on the internet, where the phenomenon began, but also in real life.

"What we've been able to accomplish here has been amazing and much bigger than any of us and certainly much bigger than Reddit," a statement posted by the group on Reddit said. "We've proven that shitposting is powerful and meme magic is real."

It's safe to say that Palmer is a /pol/ack.

So, this is the new reality.

"The dankness index has increased by 3% with this caption. This will go into the next revision."

There's a lab out there, where researchers are developing weapons-grade image macros to shitpost a candidate into office. Presumably, they also have a copy-pasta division and a "bantz" program. I mean, I guess?

Hey, Palmer, bro. If you're reading this, I have a special request. I'm thinking I'll pass by your lab, and a dude in a white coat will give me a tour of all the cool James Bond-tier meme-tech you're developing.

Hopefully Mr. Luckey will break into the next frontier of trolling with fully immersive, 3D memes in VR.

You know, when I was a little girl, I always thought I'd rather live in ancient Rome or during the Reformation, maybe the Old South, somewhere in the past, but with every passing day of the current year, I'm more and more convinced that aside from 1933 Germany, this is absolutely the best time to be alive.
