I don't think it matters much. Once you have it done, it goes into DNA vaults all over the world, and it all goes into Universities worldwide.
We used Ancestry.com 4 years ago. It was a very complete test with maps of when and where my ancestors moved around. I had my daughter do hers and it was found that my ex, one of the founding families of the US was royalty back to the beginning of time.Then she did my father's side and found the same.
Just two weeks ago, she received a letter from a foundation in IsraHELL offering her $60,000 for two of her eggs. Eggs of the gods! See, they are trying to steal our faces, and our magic. If your ancestors from the 1700s and earlier were recorded with consistent surnames then it is unlikely there were any jews. Most jews did not even have surnames until they were forced to start using them in the Napoleonic era.

Yeah, I mean, the first one on the family tree on my father's side who lived during the Dutch Renaissance has almost the exact same surname I do (they modified it a bit somewhere in the 1700's... odd, since it's a toponymic surname, as with many Dutch last names). The one from the early 1700's on my mother's father's side has the exact same surname as my grandfather.

If you'd have looked around my blog more, you'd have seen that I changed my view on this, due to the data.
