Black Driver Who Killed White Biker has History of Intoxicated Driving

The Lafayette man charged with vehicular homicide following yesterday’s St. Martin Parish crash has a history of reckless driving and driving under the influence in at least three parishes across the state, a KATC Investigation has found.
Klifford Moss Jr., 24, is accused of crossing the center line on La. 96 to pass vehicles and hitting motorcyclist Marvin Deselles head-on. Moss is believed to have been intoxicated. It’s the third time he’s been arrested after allegedly driving under the influence. His rap sheet includes:
- Nov. 30, 2012, Iberia Parish: arrested for OWI, first offense; careless operation; possession of marijuana. Entered the DA diversion program in October 2013 and pleaded “no contest” to an amended charge of reckless operation. All other charges were dropped.
- Oct. 28, 2013, Shreveport: arrested for second offense OWI; careless operation; and ignition interlock device required. Pleaded guilty to OWI, and all other charges were dropped in May 2014.
- Aug. 10, 2014, St. Martin: arrest for careless operation, driving under suspension after he drove into a ditch. That case is still open.
Moss was still in the St. Martin Parish Jail this afternoon on counts of vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, limitations on passing on the left and having an expired inspection sticker.
The victim, Marvin Deselles, 69, of Broussard, was thrown from his motorcycle after Moss allegedly hit him. Deselles was then run over by a second vehicle, which police are still searching for.
The vehicle is described as a green or gray Chrysler 300 with a handicapped tag hanging from the rearview mirror.
