I myself am not convinved that there are aliens or saucers or conspiracies involving the satellite government, but I read every issue of the Desert Rat Newsletter, and am growing to like it more and more each issue. Originally I started reading about the UFO phenomenon because of my father, who is fascinated by the whole scene, and does believe the various talk shows he watches, and is convinced the government is involved in nefarious conspiracies. We've spent many an evening arguing about this stuff, and because I've become so involved with the many facets of the net, I stumbled across your publication. I like the sarcasm, and the spirited attention to detail you provide, and your reports of other's efforts at capitalizing on this phenomenon. I was surprised, therefore, when you seemed to be alluding to giving up the ghost in issue #27. You must not do this. Sanity must prevail, and you have to hang in there doing what you are doing, because if this stuff turns out to be as true as it might, it will be important to have knowledgeable, sane, and level-headed people like yourself and Mr. Campbell. Martin Luther King would have liked to have quit a few years into the civil rights thing, after the FBI had begun wiretapping his phone calls and bugging his hotel rooms. He simply couldn't; he was carried by a wave mixed with destiny and courage. There was too much at stake for him to give up. Of course, it's easy for me to say this, sitting up here in my apartment in Montreal. You're in Vegas and the desert, probably being watched most of the time. But you must keep writing and observing; there are sane people out here who are paying attention to the work you are doing, and are learning from it. I'm sorry this is such a long note, but I was moved by your last newsletter into writing some kind of letter of support. Good luck, AW
