LANGLEY AFB, Va. (AFNS) -- Lt. Gen. Thomas R. Griffith, commander of 12th Air Force and U.S. Southern Command Air Forces, was relieved of command June 25 by Gen. Joseph W. Ralston, commander of Air Combat Command.
Ralston said he took the action because he has lost confidence in Griffith's ability to command because of inappropriate personal conduct. An investigation of Griffith's misconduct will be conducted by the Air Force inspector general's office, Air Combat Command officials said.
Maj. Gen. James F. Record, vice commander of 12th Air Force and U.S. Southern Command Air Forces, will lead the command until a replacement for Griffith is nominated and confirmed.
