There might be a lawyer out there who things the case will be worth taking to court! On the way to the Weekly Squidfest O' Doom, I saw my exact bike on the road right in front of me. Forest green 99 BMW R1100RT. It was even dirty and bug splattered. I felt like such a clone. I may have to get up the gumption and do some customization to that my Bimmer. Over the night my thoughts ranged from bright yellow smiley stickers everywhere to fake gun barrels to helmet-miked loudspeakers for sharing my thoughts with careless cagers. Needless to say, it was a popular idea amoungst the other riders. Back to the report : We had a fairly good turn out. 22 bikes started the night. And all who attended got to see some special moments. Like Greg showing up on his shiny pretty Moto Guzzi. GOD that's a pretty bike. And it looks like it'd just pop your arms right out of their sockets. We also got to see SmallSilly on a *gasp* cruiser *faint* while her Little Red Rocket GSXR is in the shop. And we all got to see Keith demonstrating his ever popular Bumper Hugging Wheelie Routine. I just wonder if the car driver looked in the rear view at the appropriate time to see Keith's front end closing in on him, poised like an alligator's upper jaw. I seriously thought he was trying to hitch a ride by setting the wheel down on the trunk. Also, Steve Melandar brought his Ascot. The Mighty Thumper. Now we just need a Bambi Bike to go with it. Anyway, after much gathering, mild boasting, and a vain promise by Moike that we would NOT be going to the Roasting Company in search of Racer Boy again, we set off. First stop was the Blue Rock Coffee shop (I think I got the name right) where we spent the time eating coffee cake and counting Ferrarris. Tara checked out the facilities and pronounced them adequet for the task at hand. ;) As nothing terribly exciting was going on aside from me getting kneed in a delicate spot (not the last knee to the groin that night, but fortunately, none of the further ones directly involved me), we adjurned. Believe it or not, we went to a post office. Presumably, there is better parking there and it's in walking distance of TWO coffee houses. Unfortunately they were both closed. We contemplated our next stop while Keith contemplated how he would get his bike out of the fountain if he screwed up trying to ride his bike around the concrete lip of the fountain. Keith's question went unanswered as we mounted up quickly and headed for the Roasting Company. At this point, our Cop Karma gave out. A nameless individual with blonde hair in cute little braids popped a wheelie and the car right behind us popped on its lights. Bikers scattered. Fortunately, no ticket was issued as the cop actually knew said squidly rider, and infact had had a stereo INSTALLED by said squidly biker. So he got away scot free. Every body say thank you to the nice officer. "THANK YOU MR. NICE OFFICER!" At the shop, the group was notably thinner as some of the people who cut out stayed gone. But we did see the ultimate party bus show up. Leather couches, seats 15, 2 bars, a big screen TV w\ satellight dish. I fell to my knees in front of the rolling party mobile and saalamed my praises to it. Consequently, we got to go in and check it out. Nice. RacerBoy was actually there, but he confined himself to a few abusive epithats as he scurried on his way. Darwin will have words with that boy some day. From there, it was food food food all the way. We went to Spoons and ate ourselves silly. Not the most exciting run yet, but definately a good hanging out posuer run. In fact, I believe there might have been a certain BMW doing stoppies at freeway speeds, but we all know shafties can't stoppie. :) (It was very, very nice, though.) Join us every Monday for the Running of the Squids at Coffee Society, 7:00. The few, the proud, the marine lifeform imitators. Scrubbo DoD #6000 99 Honda VT750CDLX 99 BMW R1100RT
