Whereas, the media can have a pronounced impact on forming the
opinions of millions of Americans;

Whereas, the media enjoys certain powers and immunities granted
to it by the first amendment to the Constitution of the United
States;

Whereas, _____________________________ (CBS, The Washington Post
etc.) recognizes that the term "the people" in the first
amendment guarantees an individual right to free speech and
peaceable assembly;

Whereas, the Supreme Court of the United States has held in U.S.
v. Verdugo-Urquidez that "the people" referred to in the second
amendment are "the people" of the first, fourth, ninth, and tenth
amendments, recognizing the individual's right to keep and bear
arms;

Whereas, any attack on any part of the Bill of Rights,
particularly the Second Amendment, only encourages assault on the
rest of the document;

Therefore, Be It Resolved: That _______________________________
shall recognize the individual's right to keep and bear arms and
shall not use any of its resources, particularly those powers and
immunities granted to it by the first amendment of the
Constitution, to assail any part of the Bill of Rights.
