Stainless steel barrels for the Colt Government and Commander models in .45ACP, .38 Super and 9mm. a. All Bar-Sto barrels are machined from solid stainless steel bar stock and heat treated to 180,000 psi tensile strength. The finish is superior and lead will not solder to the bore. This latter fact makes cleaning a breeze! Accuracy is excellent when compared with other target grade barrels. b. The .45ACP barrels have a bore diameter of .4420 to .4430 inches and a groove diameter of .4500 to .4515 inches; .38 Super and 9mm barrels have bore diameters of .3460 inches and groove diameters of .3560 inches. Groove sizes given here subject to manufacturing tolerances that may vary from one group of barrels to another group. However, individual barrels within a given group will show a uniformity of bore and groove sizes within ñ.0002 inches or better. Bar-Sto does not machine their barrels from anyone else's rifled blanks. Their barrels are bored and rifled and otherwise machined entirely in their plant in Twentynine Palms, California. c. Barrels and bushings are unconditionally guaranteed for one (1) year to the original owner as pertains to quality of workmanship and materials. There is no guarantee if the barrel is later chrome plated or altered in any way by anyone other than Bar-Stop Precision Machine. d. Bar-Sto barrels are made to fit regular military service and Colt commercial pistols but they will lock tighter and the head spacing will be held to closer tolerances. It will not be necessary to tighten the slide or alter it in any way after the Bar-Sto barrel has been installed by Bar-Sto. Their fitting of the Bar-Sto barrel will achieve the same results. e. Minimum fitting charges for barrel installation will be $100.00, except for Colt Officer's model ($75.00), plus $15.00 U.P.S. insured shipping charges from Twentynine Palms to Combat Arms. The minimum insurance will be $700.00 and you may elect to have more insurance provided at $1.00 per $100 valuation over $700.00. Freight charges to ship and insure your pistol with a minimum of $700.00 insurance with instructions to Bar-Sto are $11.81. f. Some slides have a slightly shorter locking recess to breech face dimension. This is best determined by assembling the barrel and bushing in the slide (do not attach the slide to the frame). Make sure the bushing is installed in its "normal" position. Push the barrel firmly back against the breech face (that part where the firing pin hole is located) and push up on the underside of the barrel. Observe that the barrel will enter the locking recesses in the slide. If you barrel fails to go up all the way into the locking recesses while the barrel hood extension bears against the breech face, then your barrel has a shorter locking recess to breech face dimension. g. Other pistols made by manufacturers other than Colt or complete service pistols require an additional minimum fitting charge of $25.00. This applies to such pistols as the Springfield Armory, Auto Ordnance, Llama, Star, AMT, Essex, etc. Also subject to this additional minimum fitting are those pistols assembled or made up from commercial frames and/or slides other than Colt at their U.S. plant. h. Typical performance from a Bar-Sto barrel in a genuine Colt or service pistol will be about 2 inches at 50 yards when fired from a machine rest, depending upon the ammunition used. i. All .45ACP barrels are throated for use with semiwadcutter bullets. All .38 Super and 9mm bullets are throated for full metal jacket bullets only. 2. Stainless steel barrels for the Browning Hi-Power a. These have the same chemical and physical specifications as the Colt barrels from Bar-Sto. The Bar-Sto 9mm rifling is more efficient than the original Browning barrel. b. Narrower lands with corresponding wider grooves are utilized along with a slower twist. This gives better driving characteristics with little or no bullet deformation. This combination provides excellent accuracy with either cast or jacketed bullets. c. The groove diameter is .3560 to .3565 inches. The same guarantees on the Bar-Sto Colt barrels apply to their Browning Hi-Power barrels. d. If your pistol is an older World War II or Canadian Inglis Browning, they have require a different machining technique in the angular cam and Bar-Sto does this automatically.
