= = Best thing to do is before your advance, find outthe phone
number for their Intelligence Division. Explain what you are doing and
that any non-confidential information will be of help. Doesn't
always work, but it is a start. Professional courtesy dictates that
you should notify them what you are planning to do in their
jurisdiction anyway. ( For domestic not always international ).
Know that they are under time constraints and under funded
budgets. Keep your questions professional and organized.

The PD will most likely NOT know
of "Known Stalkers" for your particular client. That is your job...
you may have worked with the local PD already, or filed a
report in your own jurisdiction for letters, etc. If you have any
information ( ie: a police report or a restraining order ) you
should fax them a copy, and bring one with you for a pre-planning
visit to the local Police Station.

Contact their Intelligence Division first, they can point you in the
right direction.

graffiti?

= = = Gang graffiti can be a tough one. There is some nationwide stuff, but
some of it is location specific. Two sources: 1. call the local PD intel
division
and ask if they have a gang unit. #2 Contact whoever handles the
"crime beat" or the city desk at local newspapers and ask them if they
have any gang specific information.

= = = There are many on-line "morgues" for news articles. I subscribe to
some of the major on-line services like Dialog and CDB Infotek, that have
the ability to search thousands of publications and newspapers for
specific information. The week before I go somewhere I go to a local
large newspaper distributor and get a copy of the Sunday edition of the
local paper of where I'm headed. That way you will get a "feel" for
what to avoid, planned demonstrations, etc.

These are great questions, keep them flowing.
