As someone familiar with the Thai culture I can tell you that they are
very mellow and extraordinarily forgiving of Tourists who run afoul of
Thai social guidelines. One thing they *will not* tolerate is criticism
of the Royal family. Anyone could determine this by reading a guidebook
to Thailand in about five minutes.

It's difficult for me to understand how someone could go to the expense
and effort of travelling to a distant and exotic place and not do a
little bit of homework to make the trip more enjoyable. For a
professional to ignore this part of advance planning would be
unforgivable, IMHO.
