                               How Much Sun?

     This map covers a very large area and is not very accurate. If

     you would email MrSolar@netins.net us telling of you location

     near a large city in your country and I will be happy to let you

     know the amount of sun you will receive on average. This will

     tell you the amount of electric you can expect to generate from

     the sun.

     We live in the SW part of Utah, and from a couple of years of

     daily metering I find that we get on average of 15 amps per day

     per panel (Siemens M - 55) not tracked. That means that we get on

     sunny and cloudy days a total of 15 amps or 180 watts of

     electricity for battery storage. Of course tracked this amount

     will increase. Looking at the map you will see that we get an

     average of 6 and if you compare that with where you live you can

     easily figure how much electricity you will generate on a daily

     average.



                            Solar Array Sizing



     Take the Total average watts hours per day from system load

     worksheet from (How to Figure the Amount Electricity You Need)



     Look up the average sun hours per day in your area on map above

     and divide this into your total watt hours.



     This figure will be the minimum array wattage required.



     Divide this amount by the number of watts that your solar panels

     will produce (see catalogue)



     This figure is the amount of solar panels you will need in your

     area to produce the amount of electricity you desire. (Note round

     this figure off to the next largest number)

                               How Much WIND

     I prefer that you use our Wind Speed Indicator as outlined in our

     catalogue, as this will give you an excellent reading of exactly

     what you can expect at your location.



     However you can use the map above - find your location and then

     the amount of wind that you get on a yearly average in meters per

     second average. Then go to our catalogue page and in the wind

     area find the wind machine that you are interested in and you

     will find out how much wind is available for your location.

     automatically is sold to your utility company.

                Hydro - using Water To Generate Electricity



For a small system you figure the amount of available power in watts

generated by using the following formula:



                         W= H X GPM X 0.18 X 0.30



                            W = Power in Watts

                     H = Head in Feet (amount of fall)

                         GPM = Gallons per minute



The 0.18 and the 0.30 are used to figure the efficiency.

     1. Head: The total vertical elevation from the place where the

     water enters the pipe to the point where the turbine will be

     located.



     2. Flow: The number of gallons per minute that is available



     3. Distance: The length of pipe that will be necessary to carry

     the water to the turbine. If the pipe is already installed, what

     is the diameter and type of pipe.



     4. Location: How far will the turbine be located from the house

     or where the batteries will be located.
