REPORTS IMPORTANT ADDITION TO ITS SLATE OF CORPORATE OFFICERS
 
     SOUTHPORT, CT, April 20, 1995 -- Sturm, Ruger & Company,
Inc. (NYSE-RGR), the nation's largest producer of firearms_/1,
reports important changes to its slate of corporate officers.
 
     The company is pleased to announce that Mr. Gerald W.
Bersett, presently the President of the Winchester Division of
the Olin Corporation, will be joining Sturm, Ruger on August 1,
1995 as President and Chief Operating Officer of the corporation.
 
     Mr. Bersett is well known and highly regarded throughout the
firearms and ammunition industry, and by the current management
of Sturm, Ruger, with whom he has been acquainted for many years.
 
     Mr. Bersett graduated from the University of Missouri,
Rolla, Missouri in 1965 where he received a Bachelor's Degree in
Metallurgical Engineering. In 1978, he completed the Executive
Development Program from Ohio State University, and in 1982,
received a professional degree in Metallurgical Engineering from
the University of Missouri, Rolla.

     Mr. Bersett joined the Olin Corporation in 1965 in the Brass
Group's Fabricated Products Division, becoming Director of
Manufacturing for Mill Products by 1982. He was then appointed
Vice President and General Manager of the Ramset Division which
was incorporated into the Winchester Group, and, in 1984, became
General Manager of Winchester European Operations. In 1985 he was
appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Winchester
Division of the Olin Corporation, which included responsibility
for worldwide manufacturing and marketing of Winchester
ammunition. In 1988, Mr. Bersett was appointed President of the
Winchester Division, and in 1993 was elected a Vice President of
the Olin Corporation.
 
     Mr. Bersett serves as Chairman of the Board of the National
Shooting Sports Foundation. He is a Board Member of the
following: the Wildlife Management Institute; Buffalo Bill
Historical Center Winchester Arms Museum; Congressional
Sportsmen's Foundation; and the Sporting Arms and Ammunition
Manufacturers Institute.
 
     Mr. William B. Ruger, Jr., who is currently the President
and a Director of Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., will become
Senior Executive Officer of the Corporation, and Vice-Chairman of
its Board of Directors.
 
     Mr. William B. Ruger will remain in his current positions
as Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, and Chairman of
its Board of Directors.
 
     Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has business segments engaged
in manufacturing high quality rifles, shotguns, pistols, and
revolvers for sportsmen, private citizens, and law enforcement
and governmental agencies. The company also manufactures alloy
and stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium investment castings
for a wide variety of customers and end uses. Plants are located
in Newport, New Hampshire, Manchester, New Hampshire, and
Prescott, Arizona. Corporate headquarters are located in
Southport, Connecticut.
