Create Your Announcement Files
They must be 8 kHz, 16-bit mono-formatted WAV files.
Here are some compatible WAV files for radios with voice Channel Annoucements:
To generate a text-to-speech WAV file (computer voice) under Linux:
$ espeak -w GBPD-Main.wav "Green Bay Police - Main"Then to convert that WAV file to a 8 kHz, 16-bit mono-formatted WAV file:
$ sox GBPD-Main.wav -b 16 8bit-GBPD-Main.wav channels 1 rate 8kThe new file, 8bit-GBPD-Main.wav is then ready to be converted and loaded in CPS.
Those 8-bit WAV files MUST also be converted to a proprietary MVF format.
To convert WAV to MVF:
Tools -> Voice Files -> Voice Files CompressionCopy the 8-bit WAV files to:
C:\Program Files\Motorola\ASTRO 25 Products\ASTRO 25 Portable CPS\VoiceThen import the .MVF files into the CPS:
File -> Import -> Voice FileThe new MVF files will also be in the same directory.
Unfortunately, this all must be done one file at a time.
Assign Voice Files to Channels
From there you can assign the MVF files to channels under the "Zone Channel Assignments."
