Dark Breed declares German internet strike a success. In an attempt to get Deutsche Telekom to lower its rates members of the German user group Dark Breed, took their sites off line to deny the phone company revenue.

JPCRET/CC (Japanese Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Center) is reporting that unauthorized computer intrusions are at an all time high. They are including standard port scans as an intrusion though so the results may be slightly misleading.

Unhackable Smart Card chip?

A new smart-card encryption controller chip has recently been released by Phillips Semiconductors. The P8WE5032 crypto controller is based on the 80C51 microcontroller. The chip includes "glue logic" which is supposed to provide added security against physical attacks.
