"Internet Strikes" are becoming all to familiar in small countries where one company has control over all communications, including internet access. Czech customers are planning to boycott the internet on November 18th to protest the unusually high rates charged by SPT Telecom.

A requirement of the 1994 Digital Telephony law forces telecommunications companies to allow law enforcement to listen in to conversations. This law could also apply to internet communications. The FCC is trying to determine how the law applies to IP telephony.

DOD forms Anti-Hacker Task Force

The Joint Task Force for Computer Network Defense will be formed next month to protect DOD's command and control networks from hackers and foreign intelligence services. This ten person task force operating out of Arlington VA and be under the control of DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency).
