Japanese Network Information Center is unhappy with two proposals for
legislation submitted by the National Police Agency and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The proposals cover the unauthorized access of computer systems in Japan. Evidently
JNIC is very concerned as to the ambiguities in the proposals such as the definition of "Unauthorized Access" and the requirements of sysadmins to store log files for up to three months.

Clarin group, an Argentinean media conglomerate, had a number of pages cracked for a couple of hours on 12/02/1998. The hacked pages were:
- Grupo Clarin (www.grupoclarin.com.ar)
- Clarin newspaper (www.clarin.com.ar)
- Ole sports newspaper (www.diario-ole.com.ar)
- Frecuencia Web
- Internet Surf (www.isurf.com.ar)
The attack was perpetrated by X-Team and Forever Team. X-Team has defaced some sites in the last months and designed ad-honorem the "Madres de Plaza de Mayo" homepage. The hacked pages contained a request for flat local call charges and are posted for review on http://www.vilaweb.com/clarin
The Clarin newspaper has the bigger readership on south-america, and it's homepage is certainly popular.
We also recieved various emails from various people claiming that the following sites had been cracked.
