While the Federal Computer Incident Response Capability, an independent
group within the General Services Administration, has kept government
agencies abreast of security problems those agencies are not installing
the appropriate patches which leaves them vulnerable to attackers. Many
agencies say that they do not have the personnel with the time and
expertise to keep their systems secure. (If their systems can not be
secure maybe they should take them off the net?)

Global Hell was profiled on ABC News's 20/20 program last night. No new
information is provided in the report, just the mainstream catching up
with the world. Actually from the looks of this report they
got lost somewhere because this video does little to reflect what is
actually going on. More mass media warping the truth to get the story.
(Video is available online.)

Last night L0pht Heavy Industries appeared on ABC's World News Tonight.
While there really was no new information in the interview it was
interesting nonetheless. They tended to push the malicous angle which
everyone knows is not the case. (Video is available online.)

SecureLogix Corp. has released another war dialer into the market called
TeleSweep Secure. This one can come as a hardware/software combination
and has some interesting features, like dictionary password guessing
and a client server configuration for remote site dialing. (Thanks
but we will stick with the free ToneLoc.)

Latest word off the wire is that CuervoCon 2000 will be happening in
Laredo, TX January 22 and 23 of the new year. Okay, that's only a
month's notice but if you can afford to get the time off and get out to
Texas it's worth it... Speaking subjects run the gambit from AR-15
Configurations to Capacity Planning for Host-Based Firewalls. Looks to
be another weekend of debauchery and general evil. Bring any spare
livers you might have...
