                          Frequently Asked Questions

This file contains some questions which are asked frequently. Please
peruse this file- you may find a simple answer to what seems to be a perplexing
question.

1) Why doesn't the main FileFury window show up when the program is started?

By default, the main window isn't shown. You can change this from the Preferences
dialog. The reason for this is, FileFury installs itself in your Startup menu, and thus
will start when you first enter Windows. People might not like to see the window when
they first start, each time.

2) My friend is online, and I open his computer, but I see nothing. Why?

For security reasons, FileFury shows only the shared folders and drives. Therefore,
if there are no shared folders, there are no shared drives; nothing will appear in
the explore window. You should make sure your friend is sharing directories.

3) How can I see what other people can see on my computer?

You can open your own computer, over the Internet. For the remote computer name,
type "localhost." Localhost is another way of identifying your own machine; it's the
Internet machine identity.

4) Can people follow links from shared directories to non-shared ones?

No. We want to make sure that anything either visible or copyable must be shared
explicitly.

5) Should I keep FileFury running when I'm not using it?

Yes. Your friends may very well want to search or copy your shared files. You want
to make sure they can use your computer, just as you would want to be able to use theirs.

6) Can I copy FileFury?

Yes! FileFury is a free beta product. We encourage you to copy it.

7) Where can I find FileFury?

The official FileFury web site is http://www.filefury.com. You should check back there
for program information / updates.  FileFury also has a built-in version checking feature;
hit the globe "Update" button to check the Internet for a later version.

8) How does security work on FileFury? Can anyone see / copy my files? What else
can they do to my files?

No one can see or copy any files you don't share explicitly. You can see which
files are shared by looking at the Shared Directories window, or surfing your own
hard-drive in FileFury- shared directories are blue. But every file in a shared directory,
and every file in child directories, is shared. And anyone can see or copy those files.
But no one can edit, delete, or run files on your computer; only read and copy.
So when you're sharing files through FileFury, just make sure you wouldn't mind if
people read or copy them. Like MP3 files, or great programs like FileFury!

9) AwareNet does funny things, and I'm using StickyNote. What's happening?

StickyNote shipped with an earlier version of AwareNet, which is incompatible
with FileFury's version. Tenebril will ship a newer version of StickyNote with
the new AwareNet soon. For now, just turn off AwareNet from within StickyNote.

10) My question is not answered here. Where can I go for help?

Go to the official FileFury web site, http://www.filefury.com. If your question is
not explicitly answered there, you can contact the development team directly. Information
is available online.
