Behind this attitude is often a seething hostility to the West, barely concealed even in public statements designed to attract wider political support for the multicultural agenda. (Thomas Sowell) Few catch-phrases have been so uncritically accepted, or so variously defined, as "multicultural diversity." Sometimes it refers to the simple fact that peoples from many racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds make up the American population. At other times, it refers to an agenda of separatism in language and culture, a revisionist view of history as a collection of grievances to be kept alive, and a program of both historical and contemporary condemnation of American society and Western civilization. This meeting marked the first time that pure competitive demographics prompted a decision to effectively break down the dominance of the unifying American language; it was the first time any government, at any level, in the history of America, was able officially to reject English as the official language, and it was the bellwether of a far larger transformational agenda being pushed on various levels across the country. Jim Daton, a political scientist and futurist at the University of Hawaii who had counseled emerging nations and several states on their court systems, was quoted as saying in contemptuous terms about America: "Nothing will be more rare in the future than a white person, and nothing may be less important than the white man's ways (pg. 88) Finally, in every case of breakdown, one discovers that the dominant society and leadership group waited too long to confront the divisive elements. It gives in and gives in--all the while destroying its historical self-knowledge, which endows a people with confidence--instead of standing on principle from the very beginning. It also gives in, thinking itself liberal and tolerant, to new and different interpretations of national commitment--of citizenship--that are at heart antithetical to the traditional beliefs and needs of the society.(pg. 49) American liberals, on the other hand, are militant internationalists. Moreover, fascism identifies with the host culture, whereas American liberalism despises American culture. In a patronizing mood, liberals refer to it as "Mom, the Flag, and Apple Pie." In a less friendly mood, they speak of "Puritan Repression, Babbittry, and Racism." For a long time, they tried to hide their true convictions behind legislation flattering to the masses. But no longer. ... This cannot be said of American liberals. As has been demonstrated time and again, they despise the basic American type. Even the courtly Adlai Stevenson described this type as fat, dumb, and happy. American liberals bear more similarity to the Soviets, who clearly hated the Russian people and did all they could to alter them.(Peter Erickson, Chronicles -- March 1998, pg. 23) Their whole purpose was to "teach kids what really went on," which means how evil and repressive white Americans were and are. "... Our idea was to teach tolerance." This, of course, is the standard tactic of multiculturalists and white-haters everywhere. Teach hatred of the white race and call it "tolerance." Teach that American national identity is illegitimate and that Americans have no right to be in the Southwest (or the Northeast either, since that was stolen from the Indians), and call it "diversity." Teach that whites stole the land, raped the women, killed the people, wrecked the environment and enslaved everybody who was left and call it "history." What is happening, in New Mexico and elsewhere, is the rapid permeation of schools by this sort of anti-American and anti-white doctrine, and with the permeation of the schools comes the formation of an anti-American and anti-white racial consciousness in the minds the teachers are able to seize. Fites of Caterpillar, Inc., the industrial mainstay of Peoria, that "There is a narrowing of the gap between the average American's income and that of the Mexicans. As a human being I think what is going on is positive. I don't think it is realistic for 250 million Americans to control so much of the world's G.N.P." With leaders like Mr. Fites, the average American would be better off swimming the Rio Grande and seeking welfare in Matamoros.(Samuel Francis, Revolution from the Middle -- 1997, pg. 117) By the time the professorial worldview flamboyantly blossomed into political correctness in the nineties, its basic tenets had hardened into a rigid orthodoxy. Its first article of faith: the oppressiveness of American (and other Western) culture, society, institutions, standards, and values, which shackle everyone who isn't a white male. As a statement of Tulane University's administration puts it: "Racism and sexism are pervasive in America and are fundamentally present in all American institutions. ... It is difficult for us to see and overcome racism and sexism because ... we are all the progeny of a racist and sexist society." If you are white or--worse--a white male, you can't help being implicated in oppression. As University of Pennsylvania administrators were instructed during required "racism awareness seminars," the fundamental American reality is that "all whites are racists." (Myron Magnet, The Dream and the Nightmare: The Sixties' Legacy to the Underclass -- 1993, pg. 205, 207-208) ... Charges Catharine Stimpson, dean of the Rutgers graduate school and another recent past president of the Modern Language Association: "Under the guise of defending objectivity and intellectual rigor, which is a lot of mishmash, they are trying to preserve the cultural and political supremacy of white heterosexual males." (Nathan McCall, Makes Me Wanna Holler -- 1994) Chapter One Get Back The fellas and I were hanging out on our corner one afternoon when the strangest thing happened. A white boy, who appeared to be about eighteen or nineteen years old, came pedaling a bicycle casually through the neighborhood. I don't know if he was lost or just confused, but he was definitely in the wrong place to be doing the tourist bit. Somebody spotted him and pointed him out to the rest of us. "Look! What's that motherfucka doin' ridin' through here?! Is he crraaaazy?!" It was automatic. We all took off after him. We caught him on Cavalier Boulevard and knocked him off the bike. He fell to the ground and it was all over. We were on him like white on rice. Ignoring the passing cars, we stomped him and kicked him. My stick partners kicked him in the head and face and watched the blood gush from his mouth. I kicked him in the stomach and nuts, where I knew it would hurt. Every time I drove my foot into his balls, I felt better; with each blow delivered, I gritted my teeth as I remembered some recent racial slight: THIS is for all the times you followed me round in stores. ... And THIS is for the times you treated me like a nigger. ... And THIS is for G.P. -- General Principle -- just 'cause you white. While we kicked, he lay there, curled up in the fetal position, trying to use his hands to cover his head. We bloodied him so badly that I got a little scared and backed off. The others, seeing how badly he was messed up, moved away too. but one dude kept stomping, like he'd gone berserk. He seemed crazed and consumed in the pleasure of kicking that white boy's ass. When he finished, he reached down and picked up the white dude's bike, lifted it as high as he could above his head, and slammed it down on him hard. The white guy didn't even flinch. He was out cold. I feared he might be dead until I saw him breathing. We walked away, laughing, boasting, competing for bragging rights about who'd done the most damage. "Man, did you see how red that cracker's face turned when I busted his lip? I almost broke my hand on that ugly motherfucka!" Fucking up white boys like that made us feel good inside. I guess we must have been fourteen or fifteen by then, and it felt so good that we stumbled over each other sometimes trying to get in extra kicks and punches. When we bum-rushed white boys, it made me feel like we were beating all white people on behalf of all blacks. We called it "gettin' some get-back," securing revenge for all the shit they'd heaped on blacks all these years. They were still heaping hell on us, and especially on our parents. The difference was, cats in my generation weren't taking it lying down. After my older brother Dwight got his driver's license, a group of us would pile into my stepfather's car some evenings and cruise through a nearby white neighborhood, searching for people walking the streets. We'd spot some whites, get out, rush over, and, using sticks and fists, try to beat them to within an inch of their lives. Sometimes, when I sit back and think about the crazy things the fellas and I did and remember the hate and violence that we unleashed, it's hard to believe I was once part of all that -- I feel so removed from it now that I've left the streets. Yet when I consider white America and the way it's treated blacks, our random rage in the old days makes perfect sense to me. Looking back, it's easy to understand how it all got started. ... The fellas and I never talked about specific things they'd done to us, but we instinctively knew that each of us had been through bad scenes with white folks before. So we took it out on white boys. Then I popped him in the mouth. He fell back and slammed his head into the lockers. Before I could hit him again, somebody else hit him with a barrage of punches that sent him crashing to the floor. We kicked him in the face and stomped him (pg. 156) Whites in general caught hell in jail, especially in my new cellblock, ... At night, when the lights went out, those whites who couldn't hold their own were harassed, sexually and otherwise, by the wolves.
