Danced Around As Jap Zeros Shot
Exactly 66 years ago today, on a sunny Hawaiian island, John
Guarino and James Lobozzo nearly lost their lives. 'I could have gone
down that morning, and a lot of guys did,' said Guarino, 89. 'They
were standing right next to me.'
Lobozzo said, 'I can still see those bullets bouncing off the concrete
runway. They didn't miss me by much.' Guarino, who owned a limousine
service in New York City.

Jerry Mintz Runs The Show
Floridian Jerry Mintz, president of the Survivors Association, said
membership in the local group has dropped to 14. 'And I'm one of the
younger ones,' said Mintz, an ex-Army Air Corps radio operator who is
85.
A DD form 214 isn't required.
