Jewish Interests Want Arson Case Stopped

In early 2006, three Jewish students went on an arson spree, egged on by the ADL's outrage over the Southern Baptists drive to convert Jews. To date they date sent untold 'Peace Makers' to talk to state authorities about dropping charges. David Pollick head of the Southern University has offered scholorships, Deborah Lipstadt has visited, local police monitored school chat rooms about comments leaking out, and now it appears Condollezza Rice is in the mix.

Convention Promises Support

 

Alabama Baptist Convention Executive Director Rick Lance released a statement saying the group was responding in multiple ways to the fires.

“We’re working with the leadership of the Bibb Baptist Association to provide prayer support and damage assessment for these churches,” he said. “As quickly as possible, we anticipate having mobile chapels available for use by the two churches whose facilities were destroyed.

He also said the state convention would provide “appropriate financial assistance” to the convention-affiliated churches damaged. All of the churches have small congregations and budgets

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Checks Sent To Baptist Churches
 

Checks from Alabama Baptist disaster relief funds went to each of these churches as well. In an article published in The Wall Street Journal, the pastors said it was the first time predominately black Baptist churches had received funds from Southern Baptists.

Technically the funds did not come from the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). They came from the Alabama Baptist State Convention, which cooperates with the SBC. It was the caring and organization of their fellow Alabamians that made the gifts possible
