Does It Get Any Sillier?

Jerry Lewis plays a clown ( Helmut Doork ) that made fun of Hitler, and got thrown into Auschwitz. Doork, who is German, decides he is doing the kids a favor by pretending to lead a circus parade, where little children follow him, to the gas chambers.

Unspeakable Horrors

When he is forced to led kids directly to the ovens, where Germans throw them in alive, the screams get to him, and he begs to be gassed.

The Commandant at Auschwitz explains to Helmut what is done here - how the buildings without windows are ovens used to exterminate the Jewish children.

Helmut Is Torn

He goes on to tell Helmut that as he has lead the children this far and that he now has a special bond with them, almost as if he is "one of them," he should lead them for the remainder of their journey.

Helmut agrees to lead kids into the gas chambers

Doork starts out by entertaining kids in the boxcars, then onto marching smiling kids into the gas chambers, and finally he takes them into the crematoriums.

Doork says he feared for his life, but in the end we realize that even Nazi clowns are evil.  Source

Lewis Sees This As The Pinnacle Of his career

Lewis says: -"One way or another, I'll get it done. The picture must be seen, and if by no one else, at least by every kid in the world who's only heard there was such a thing as the Holocaust."

"I don't care if it doesn't make a nickel. I just want every man, woman, and child in America to see it!"

This Goes Over The Boundary Of Believability

I thought I saw it all when Schindler's List portrayed a German Camp Commandant, sitting on his porch, eating breakfast, and shooting Jews for sport. Or the ridiculous story about a girl, and eight other Jews, living in a glass house, on a city park, hiding from the Nazis. But let's not forget the Wolf Girl of Auschwitz.
