Carter Is Unapologetic
On
Good Morning America , Carter called Israel's occupation the
"prime cause" of continuing violence in the Middle East.
"And contrary to the United Nations resolutions, contrary to the
official policy of the United States government, contrary to the
Quartet so-called road map, all of those things -- and contrary to
the majority of Israeli people's opinion -- this occupation and
confiscation and colonization of land in the West Bank is the prime
cause of a continuation of violence in the Middle East," said
Carter.
"And what is being done to the Palestinians under Israeli
domination is really atrocious," Carter continued. "It's a terrible
affliction on these people."

Abraham Foxman
"This is an
anti-Semitic canard, that Jews
control media, that they control universities, Congress, etc. For a
former president to engage in such a canard is shameful, shameless
and irresponsible," said Foxman, who also accused Carter of making
"outrageous misrepresentations of Israel."

Kenneth Stein Is Livid
Kenneth W. Stein, a professor at
Emory University, has resigned as a fellow with the Carter Center in
Atlanta. Stein said in a letter that the book was "replete with
factual errors, copied materials not cited, superficialities,
glaring omissions and simply invented segments."
The criticism also was sharp in Sunday's Washington Post, in one of
the first reviews of the book to appear in a major publication. The
Post's reviewer called it a "cynical book" that "blames Israel
almost entirely for perpetuating the hundred-year war between Arab
and Jew."

All Of Congress Is Outraged
John Conyers, who can't spell apartheid, and doesn't even know
where the state of Jordan is, even he is outraged.
"Conyers stated recently that the use of the term 'apartheid' in
the book's title 'creates a negative image of the Jewish people in
particular, who have been victims of the worst kind of
discrimination
