He was released from jail on April 6th and killed on April 7th

Nick Berg  is billed as the ideal young child who was a neighborhood favorite and whose house was the basis for Ozzie and Harriet. 

 

Nick was heavily into sports and also played in the high school band.

Berg's father told reporters that his son had attended Cornell University, Drexel University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Oklahoma.

Berg's latest adventure was an independent trip to Iraq, looking for work rebuilding the country's telecommunications infrastructure.

He went to Baghdad in March seeking work with a company that had previously hired him, but was told there wasn't a post this time.

But the same day he spoke to his parents he was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in the northern town of Mosul.

Iraqi police arrested Berg in Mosul on March 24 because local authorities believed he may have been involved in "suspicious activities," Senor said.

He was then turned over to US officials and detained for 13 days. The New York Times reported today that he was questioned by FBI agents who were trying to determine what he was doing in Iraq and whether he was really a US citizen.

He was subsequently detained by the U.S. military and interrogated by the FBI until his release on April 6. No reason was ever given for holding him for these 13 days.

His arrest was related to his passport and Israel

 

On April 5, the Bergs - frustrated at his incarceration - filed a suit in a federal court in Philadelphia, contending that their son was being held illegally by the US military.

The next day he was released.

Berg is a good Jewish boy looking to build cell phone towers when Iraqi police arrest him and subsequently turn him over to US military - who put him in prison. He mysteriously escapes wearing his orange prison jumpsuit and is then captured by Abdul al-Zarqawi and the Feyadeen.

 

Nick was investigated by the FBI  in connection with the 9-11 attack   ( 9/11 hijacker  Moussaoui used Nick's laptop ). Berg and Moussaoui went to the same flight school. He was then arrested in Iraq by the police and the US army who held for 13 days under the FBI's orders.
