Australian Religious Leader In Trouble

The Australian Federal Court has ordered Anthony Grigor-Scott, the leader of a NSW-based group, the Bible Believers' Church,  to remove material from his website denying the Holocaust took place.

It is considered a breach of the Racial Discrimination Act.

The Revered Head Of Australian Jewry

The complaint was brought by Jeremy Jones, the president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) when the material first appeared in 2005.

Australian Justice Rules

Justice Richard Conti ordered Mr Grigor-Scott to remove claims the holocaust is exaggerated for Jewish financial gain, and any material denying the existence of gas chambers in Auschwitz.

Public Humiliation Of Australian Jewry

The High Minister of Australian Jewry, Jeremy Jones, argued the material constituted a public act which caused offence, insult, humiliation and/or intimidation to Jewish Australians.

This is not a matter of Free Speech.

A Legal Warning

Steven Lewis, solicitor for Mr Jones, said the ruling sent a clear message to Holocaust deniers, that they could not use the internet "to spread hatred and racial vilification of fellow Australians".

Prelude To Another Monster's Trial

On 2/12/2007 the notorious Fredrick Toben will appear in Australian court.

Professor Toben is expected to defend himself against contempt charges alleging he has failed to remove anti-Semitic and racial material from his website as ordered by the Federal Court.
