At 10 a.m., a convoy of 13 official sport utility vehicles sealed off
the main roads, and screeched into the Baghdad market. The shocked crowd
of shoppers and businessmen went into a panic, and hid behind buildings
and in shops. The uniformed men started firing weapons in the air,
herding people into trucks, and in 15 minutes seventy five people were
gone.
A few hours later twenty two were released, when the gunman confirmed
through their identity cards they were Shiites. The other 53 were
Sunnis, whose executed corpses will show up on Baghdad streets tomorrow
morning.
