Guided Bombs Take Out Building

Israel targeted Hamas's top commanders in a Gaza air strike on Wednesday that killed eighteen Palestinians, and reduced to rubble a three-story building where the militants were believed to be meeting.

The Israeli military said the attack wounded Mohammad Deif, leader of the governing Hamas movement's armed wing and Israel's most wanted man.

The death toll was eighteen, nine being from one family.
Dr. Nabil Abu Salmiyeh, a lecturer at Gaza City’s Islamic University, his wife and seven of their nine children were killed. The building turned it into a tangle of twisted metal, broken concrete, blood and dust.
