Gun Down Two Girls

The madman gunned down two co-eds from Long Island because he blamed one of them for trying to wreck his relationship with their friend.

 

Roommate Wanted him In Rehab

"He thought he had a drinking problem and wanted to be put in rehab," said Mendel's roommate, Jeremy Belk, 25. Cops say they paid a visit to Mendel's home and gave him numbers for rehab centers.

Mendel Was Creepy

ASU sophomore Swanson Bober,  called Mendel "a creep." "Carol didn't want to have anything to do with him. She was badmouthing him to his girlfriend," Bober said. "He was too controlling and possessive."
 

It Was A Slaughter

According to cops, Mendel had waited at Kestenbaum's off-campus apartment until she and Schiffman, 22, returned from a night celebrating Kestenbaum's 20th birthday.

Without a word, Mendel opened fire on the young women before turning the gun on himself, cops said.
