Another Convoluted Story

Tarmiyah is a market town of 30,000, and for some reason there is a small US post placed at an old police station, in the middle of the town.  There are two stories of the attack, one says they used a car bomb to blow the gate, and another story says, the insurgents entered the base and blew up a fuel tanker. A nearby base at Taji sent in gun ships and medivacs, and an insurgent, with an advanced missile, took out an apache.

If an infiltrator took out a fuel tank in the middle of the compound, I would certainly be looking at any Israeli advisors that were in that compound. The second thing is, it would require an advanced missile to take out an Apache, so where did they get it. This makes six helicopters shot down right before Bush's big push, and it seems a little too convenient.

The Tarmiya Base is an integral part of the new strategy devised by Gen. David Petraeus, Iraq's new Jewish/American commander, which calls for troops to move back into smaller communities to reconnect with Iraqi residents.
