Crowley is best known for founding the Ordo Templi Orientis, or OTO. He didn't, but that's another story. For the short version read pages 37 through 45 of Sex and Rockets: The Occult World of Jack Parsons by John Carter ISBN 0-922915-56-3. Parsons was an outstanding early rocket scientist, the inventor of JATO (jet-assisted takeoff), founder of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, yet another secret society member and an avid Crowley enthusiast. The book is a hell of a read. Check it out.
