The following is an edited transcript a Monroe Institute online conference concerning Remote Viewing, with Joe McMoneagle (author of the book MIND TREK as guest and Christopher Carey as moderator. This transcript was edited (by PJ Gaenir) to reduce chatter, keep answers in the same place as the question, keep answers in one piece, and in general improve the consistency for the sake of readers.

Chris Carey (Mod.) Evening all. The topic tonight is Remote Viewing via Joe McMoneagle. Any questions for Joe or otherwise as we wait for a few others?
Joe McMoneagle I would be glad to answer any questions you might have. Or we can wait.
Chris (NOT mod.) Hiya Chris... Hello Joe... congrats on the ABC show and your book, btw
Joe McMoneagle Thanks. Which show are you talking about?
Chris Carey (Mod.) Joe, would you like to start out with a description of RV and your recent appearance on ABC?
Joe McMoneagle Sure I can do that. Remote viewing is the ability to perceive information about a place person, or thing remote from yourself without any other means of knowing. What differentiates remote viewing from psychic functioning is that it is always done under controls.
Chris Carey (Mod.) Joe, can you recap your appearance on put To The Test for us?
Joe McMoneagle Sure... Essentially, they set up targets around the Houston area because it was a city that I had never been to. They then asked the Houston police department to guard the targets. They selected a target randomly and sent someone I didn't know to that location and then asked me to describe where they were from a windowless room... I described a dock or warf area with a dredge which was dredging the river. It turned out the person was standing at the Houston Dock and Transit Wharf watching a dredge dredge the river. They were pretty amazed.
Chris (NOT mod.) <--- has show on tape... agrees it was a pretty convincing RV demonstration
Chris Carey (Mod.) Joe, were you in Houston or elsewhere at the time?
Joe McMoneagle They flew me to Houston for the occasion after they had selected the targets. I could have done it from Virginia, but they didn't know if the audience would understand that.
Chris (NOT mod.) Wouldn't want to amaze folks TOO much <g>
Chris Carey (Mod.) Interesting. Any questions for Joe? Jump in...
Bruce On Nightline's story you described, briefly, other work such as with hostages in Iran. Can you tell a little more about that? The CIA guys seemed involved but not interested in talking about that.
Joe McMoneagle Well, there isn't much I can share detail wise. I can tell you that I participated in over 350 separate cases like the hostage situation and was accurate at least 86 percent of the time.
Chris Carey (Mod.) In the 86% correct, were any rescued as a result?
Joe McMoneagle There were only three or four hostage situations. One was rescued and that was General Dozier in Italy... But he was found with information from an informant as our information was being delivered by a DIA representative. Our stuff would have done it I'm sure.
Bruce Were these with some other agency than CIA? Hi Scooter!
Joe McMoneagle Yes. But I can't share that at the moment.
Chris (NOT mod.) I have a question. Joe, are you still doing any work involving remote viewing of future technologies... and can you share any of that with us?
Joe McMoneagle Yes, I'm still working with the lab at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. All I can say is that we are still building the machine, but don't quite know what it will do yet.
Chris (NOT mod.) LOL
Jeff Joe, how has the national publicity affected you?
Joe McMoneagle Very little. Worn me out frankly. I can do without it.
Bruce The program seemed to miss a point. All this business of percentages correct seemed to dismiss the point that it can be done at all. Even once is amazing. Is the lab in Las Vegas with Dean Radin?
Joe McMoneagle Yes the lab is with Dean Radin . . . and yes, you're right. In fact our percentages are no better or worse than most other intelligence collection systems. My actual percentages for correct in the lab for almost eleven years is 56%.
Bruce I've emailed Dean a couple of times and sent a few stories to him. Have they set their agenda for after life research yet?
Joe McMoneagle Don't know. You'd have to ask him.
Chris Carey (Mod.) Joe, I remember you telling our Guidelines (?) program about RVing a UFO siting in WA in 1954... have you done any other UFO work?
Joe McMoneagle Some. But I'm working to do a follow on book to MIND TREK which I want to put that information in. So, all I'll say is that there are UFO's and then there are other things mistaken for them.
Rosemary Booth Are these other things terrestrial?
Joe McMoneagle Some are and some aren't. But don't jump to the conclusion that they are from some other planet.
Jeff You mean they may be from our future?
Joe McMoneagle Could be from the future, or another dimension.
Rosemary Booth Do some of them involve our own govt?
Joe McMoneagle Rosemary, so do, but then many of them arn't from our or any other govt.
Chris (NOT mod.) Joe, how is your back following surgery? And has this affected your RV abilities at all?
Joe McMoneagle For the first time in 27 years no pain at all. I haven't taken an aspirin since I was rolled out of surgery... No effect on RV.
Beth Do you see things as if on video or do you see symbolic images or both?
Joe McMoneagle Both, Beth. I even get the information in humor and jest.
Chris (NOT mod.) Another question here. Joe, are you in any particular focus level vis a vis TMI methods when RVing?
Joe McMoneagle You could say it is something very much like 12 state.
Jeff What happens when you try to RV a spirit, or some one who has passed on...?
Joe McMoneagle You actually get some information ... but you can only go so far and then you aren't permitted to go much futher. There are controls that seem to be out of the remote viewer's hands.
Rosemary Booth Are you given ground rules by the other side?
Chris Carey (Mod.) Can you be a little more specific with an example?
Joe McMoneagle Yes... I was remote viewing a guy who was killed in an accident and at the point that he actually died I had the sense that I was being prevented from further exploration by many layers of cloth or mesh. No spirit blocking me, but something almost mechanical.
Jeff Joe, you discerned this RV ability only after your near death experience, what was in the NDE that changed you...?
Joe McMoneagle Well... give me a second... I think it was the realization that we don't die. That we just transit into another state... that things are totally different than we might think they are. I wasn't prepared for that sudden knowledge.
Bruce Last time I was in Virginia you talked about a project involving recordings of drumming and a water tank. Done any more with that lately?
Joe McMoneagle Not yet. Lack the funds. I don't have much trouble doing the sound part, it's the building of the floatation tank that's holding stuff up. One of the interesting things about sound is that we live our lives in it and don't notice the effects.
Jeff Was there some organic change to your brain/nervous system, or simply an increased awareness. George Anderson became aware of his abilities after an early childhood illness...
Joe McMoneagle Well, Jeff, not that I notice. I believe that my sensitivity to what's going on around me is probably a little more intense than most. Also, I probably don't pay attention to the same things that most people do from a day to day basis.
Jeff back to Bruce's question, the object of the drums and tank was....
Joe McMoneagle I'll explain. I want to build a floatation tank in which to tesk certain sounds. The experiment is to completely emerse the entire body in sound... and I found that there are certain Indian drum beats that create repetitive images in some people. So, I want to combine the two and do some drumming and sound and floatation experiments.
Bruce Sealed speakers in some body elses hot tub maybe?
Joe McMoneagle Can't be done that way. I'll explain why. They have to be a special kind of speaker to get a full wave transmission to the water... the tub design has to be such that it doesn't interfere with cross waves or bouncing wave fronts ... the space around the body has to be measured and adjustable according to the person using it. It all needs focus.
Bruce I see
Jeff Have you ever RV the consciousness of a dolphin...? Sound Related Technologies in Virginia Beach has a water bed suspended over special speakers, are you aware of it....?
Joe McMoneagle Yes. I've been in it but it's quite different than what I want to do. As regards the dolphins... negative. I've been in the water with them and communed with them, but not with their consciousness.
Bruce How's your next book coming?
Joe McMoneagle It's been a rough haul... I've actually got three going at one time and desperately trying to finish the follow on to MIND TREK. It will probably be finished by the end of next month.
Bruce No wonder it's a long haul, three at once!
Joe McMoneagle Unfortunately, I have to eat in order to explore.
Bruce Don't we all.
Chris (NOT mod.) Question: Will the follow up (or other books) be published through Hampton Roads or has that yet to be determined?
Joe McMoneagle It hasn't been determined yet... They may still publish for me, or it might be someone else. Whomever, will have to do a lot of support as regards sales.
Shirley & Robert You might have already covered this... do you use the RV for any specific purpose like crime solving?
Joe McMoneagle Yes, and I have used it for a number of crimes. Locating evidence, finding victims, or just picking out a jury. I'm working on a missing person case now.
Bruce Any comment on the topics of the othe two books?
Joe McMoneagle Yes... One is going to be how all this has affected me with regard to the government stuff... The other is going to be some suggestions on new approaches to science and what we should now be looking at. I'm also working on a non-fictional account about cannabalism in the islands by the Japanese during the WWII.
Mike Joe> This may be a stupid question, but when remote viewing, do people get any other sensory impressions besides visual ones?
Joe McMoneagle Yes, quite a few... some like emotions, pain, and some that are stranger than that... Some can be quite interesting. I've had some surprises doing some remote viewings. Also, your five senses get screwed up a little bit... You begin to see what you taste... feel what you hear... hear what you smell... etc.
Mike Wow.
Rosemary Booth Are you externally aware while in RV?
Joe McMoneagle Oh yes. I can carry on a conversation with you while I'm doing it. In fact the ABC special was done just that way. 28 people in the room and I was talking with the narrator while I was doing the remote viewing which was a clean hit.
Shirley & Robert Do you have any other gifts? Do you dabble in many different things or do you mainly stay focused on RV-ing? And please elaborate on the surprises.
Joe McMoneagle There are other things that I can do such as dowsing... as for elaborating on the surprises, you'll have to do your own exploration.
Chris (NOT mod.) Feel like telling us about any of us right now?
Mike How does RVing differ from OBEing then? The two must be related, right?
Joe McMoneagle Negative. Not in my mind... they are two totally different experiences as far as I'm concerned. I've experienced both quite differently. There are some who have not experienced both, but since both collect information, they decide they are either, based on that conclusion, which could be an erroneous one in the first place.
Rosemary Booth Have you been able to re-experience the site of your NDE?
Joe McMoneagle No. Don't need to. I won't forget any of the detail as long as I live. It is burned into my mind.
Chris (NOT mod.) Can you OBE with relative ease now, or is this an area that you're not particularly focused on?
Joe McMoneagle No. It is still very difficult for me to do a controlled OBE... It takes a whole different form of concentration and effort and I'm not willing to give up the remote viewing to learn more conrol.
Shirley & Robert When you are RV-ing does it interfere with your regular vision?
Joe McMoneagle Doesn't interfere with regular vision unless you close your eyes.
Bruce Hi, I'm Pharon and I'm here with Bruce and I am wondering how the percentages are determined... on the ABC show I saw there didn't seem to be any mistakes but you said it was 86% correct?????
Joe McMoneagle Some are 100% and some are 55%, when it's all averaged out it comes out to 86%. That's for about 4,000 targets by the way.
Chris (NOT mod.) Question here. Joe, when you were learning to RV did you ever experience an overwhelming flood of impressions? And how did you learn to slow them down?
Joe McMoneagle They are all like that... they all will overwhelm you with impressions. That's the trick or the learned ability is to sort out he information of value from that which is overlay. You can do that by practice, practice, etc.
Chris (NOT mod.) So it's just a matter of practice, practice, practice then? LOL
Joe McMoneagle Mostly. You also need an open mind, and experiences that allow you to see that it works.
Mike Are impressions received in RV limited to the present time, or can you pick up impressions from the past also?
Joe McMoneagle You can RV the past, present, or future. But there is a difficulty when you do the future as there are some things that can mess you up.
Chris (NOT mod.) Can you elaborate?
Joe McMoneagle Yes... Let's pretend that you live in the year 1810 and you're a remote viewer and your target is the general motors manufacturing plant in the year 1989... you will describe it perfectly but no one will understand what you are describing. i.e., the mechanical arms that do the welding as an example. So we target the year 2356 and it's very difficult to understand some of the concepts.
Chris Carey (Mod.) Well folks, it's time to say good night. Joe, thanks so much!
Joe McMoneagle You guys are welcome, and ladies.
[some more 'thanks!' 'you're welcomes' etc. until end. - Ed]
