- Lincoln County is a small, land-locked Third World country bordered on
three sides by the state of Nevada and on the fourth by the state of Utah.
On the surface, Lincoln County resembles nearby rural counties in the
southwestern United States. The terrain is a vast, empty desert punctuated
by only a few tiny villages. Here the natives earn a subsistence living
raising cattle, maintaining the railroad line and selling gasoline to
tourists. Most other forms of economic activity are firmly discouraged by
the conservative political structure.
- Some people say that the law, as written and literally interpreted, must
never be disobeyed. If the speed limit is 40 miles per hour, you must never
go 41. We, however, are not so rigid -- or so irresponsible! Although we use
the law as a guide, that does not absolve us of the need for intelligent
decision making. To every situation, we must apply a test of reasonableness,
based not just on law but on the actual circumstances and probable results
of our actions.
We must examine our own motives and the motives of those who raised the protest, because the same act can be good or evil depending on why it is done. We try to figure out what is "right" in a given circumstance -- right being a conclusion that takes in all the conflicting issues, including the law and all the information available to us at the time. If the best balance of factors, after analysis, requires us to disobey the letter of the law, then the we will proceed to do so without regret. We will blatantly xerox, scan and re-type -- knowing the possible consequences and accepting full responsibility for our actions.

- It is interesting how the skeptics live up to their
billing as joyless Fudds. Not that skepticism in itself is a bad thing, but
the people who lead the movement seem to be as paranoid and unproductive as
the conspiracy nutcases they rail against. They live in a world where
nothing is possible, not even life itself, and the universe has so few
mysteries to them that they can only squabble over turf and build fortresses
against imaginary enemies. Their rationality, it seems, is only skin deep.
Deep down these folks are as wacko and dangerous as the most rabid UFO buff.
- Radin is a former military remote viewing researcher who
until recently was affiliated with local New Age philanthropist Robert
Bigelow and his henchman, the semi-mysterious John Alexander. Bigelow is the
Las Vegas real estate mogul who promised to fund a joint research project of
MUFON, CUFOS and FUFOR a couple years back, while Alexander is known
primarily for being, well, semi-mysterious. Bigelow has the bucks, but also
a fickle reputation and a short attention span. His funding relationship
with Radin has recently fallen apart just as the UFO project did: over
issues of control and academic freedom. If Bigelow funds a project, he wants
to be the director and head researcher, which doesn't usually sit well with
the academics he employs.
Bigelow's latest project is the National Institute for Discovery Sciences, based in Las Vegas. He has assembled a "blue ribbon" group of scientists and figureheads (his "aviary" so to speak), including physicist Hal Puthoff, Astronaut Edgar Mitchell, airplane designer Burt Rutan, conspiracy buff Gordon Novel and, of course, the semi-mysterious J.A. (Which ones are currently "in" and "out" is hard to determine, however, since the Bigelow aviary is always in flight.) There are supposedly other big-name academics involved. I once gave the project six months before Bigelow lost interest or soured the more reputable participants, but that was more than a six months ago, and the project still seems to exist. What they actually do at the National Institute for Discovery Science is another question. If you claim they are designing flying saucers for the New World Order, that's probably not far off off target.
Bigelow once funded Bob Lazar as the "Zeta Reticuli Corporation" shortly after Lazar came forward with his claims. Although the existence of this Nevada Corporation and Lazar's position in it are a matter of public record, stories differ as to what it was actually supposed to do. Corporation missions I've heard are: (a) Space weapons research, (b) finding a cure for AIDS, and (c) experiments on samples of Element 115, which Lazar once had in his possession but that somehow got "taken back." In any case, conspiracy buffs can rest assured that none of these projects was ever successfully completed, or even started for that matter, before the relationship between Lazar and Bigelow disintegrated. (Again, the accounts vary.)
Recently, several of Bigelow's latest flock of associates talked saucers with Jarod-2. It seems Burt Rutan and Gordon Novel are interested in building one, but J-2 thinks their anti-gravity capacitor system is ridiculous. J-2 invited me to attend a luncheon meeting with three other Bigelow aviary members, but Alexander reacted strongly when he heard this: Glenn Campbell was not to be involved because he would write about it in the Desert Rat. (Normally, Rat articles on non-public issues are cleared with the parties involved before publication, but when I've been "outed," I am now longer bound by this.) The meeting, sans Psychospy, was perfunctory, and both sides apparently came out of it unimpressed with the other. The only aviary member J-2 thought much of was Dean Radin, who asked the most intelligent questions.
Now Radin and his partner Jannine Rebman have quit their Bigelow funding relationship, leaving behind plenty of birds but dwindling talent.
Both Bigelow and Alexander certainly deserve more attention on this website, at least as local "characters." At the same time, they aren't nearly as mysterious, productive or "connected" as their reputations suggest. Alexander's lurking, evasive style has earned him a central position in many a conspiracy theory -- He is the "Penguin" in one ontology. -- but I doubt he hides any significant secrets. Bigelow, in turn, is simply a flighty New Age buff who happens to have a lot of money. There are a lot of things money can't buy, and credibility is one of them.
- ...Some 20 miles to the south, thirty-one-year-old Bob Sheahan watched
from the Groom Mine. He had once been an engineering student at the
University of Nevada. With his father, Dan, he had already seen nearly 30
radioactive clouds pass by since the tests started two years before. He had
taken photographs of many. The clouds were heavily laden and dirty. The
Groom Mine, a cluster of a dozen buildings and cabins, sat on the eastern
border of Nevada Proving Grounds, in the path of the winds that blew to the
north and east.
As the clouds and dust from the March 24 detonation headed north from Yucca Flat and toward Bald Mountain, near the mine, Bob Sheahan went down to one of the cabins to see if William Holy, the radiation monitor from the Public Health Service, wanted to have some breakfast. Holy wanted some, but he couldn't leave his radio and telephone equipment, which he had set up for the shot. There would be messages coming in from the other monitor posts to track the fallout from nearby Tempiute, Lincoln Mine, and Control Point.
Holy was occupied with a broken generator when the phone rang in the cabin. He asked Bob Sheahan to get the message. On the phone was Holy's counterpart out near the Lincoln Mine. The radiation reading there and for the valley where the Bullochs were was very hot....

- This "scientific evidence" is reportedly footage of a UFO which was
filmed near Groom Lake in April of 1996. It must in fact be so scientific as
to border on true rocket science, since to my mind this clip is evidence of
nothing at all. Even an untrained skeptic can see there are no visible
points of reference, so that it is unclear as to whether this object was
bobbing about in the air, or the cameraman's hand was unsteady. The digital
video capture from tape is also a real hack job, but that's only my opinion,
having seen a lot better.... Still, I stepped through the clip several times
and I like the way this thing moves.
- According to Warren, Jackie proceeded to tell him the intriguing set of
circumstances that led him to the stunning conclusion that extraterrestrials
have arrived on our cosmic shores. "It was back when Nixon was in office
that something truly amazing happened to me," Gleason explained. "We were
close golfing buddies and had been out on the golf course all day when
somewhere around the 15th hole, the subject of UFOs came up. Not many people
know this," Gleason told Warren, "but the President shares my interest in
this matter and has a large collection of books in his home on UFOs just
like I do. For some reason, however, he never really took me into his
confidence about what he personally knew to be true... one of the reasons
being that he was usually surrounded by so many aids and advisers."
Later that night, matters changed radically, when Richard Nixon showed up at Gleason's house around midnight. "He was all alone for a change. There were no secret service agents with him or anyone else. I said, 'Mr. President, what are you doing here?' and he said he wanted to take me someplace and show me something." Gleason got into the President's private car and they sped off into the darkness--their destination being Homestead Air Force Base. "I remember we got to the gate and this young MP came up to the car to look to see inside and his jaw seemed to drop a foot when he saw who was behind the wheel. He just sort of pointed and we headed off."
Warren says that later Gleason found out that the secret service was going absolutely crazy trying to find out where Nixon was. "We drove to the very far end of the base in a segregated area," Gleason went on, "finally stopping near a well guarded building. The security police saw us coming and just sort of moved back as we passed them and entered the structure. "There were a number of labs we passed through first before we entered a section where Nixon pointed out what he said was the wreckage from a flying saucer, enclosed in several large cases." Gleason noted his initial reaction was that this was all a joke brought on by their earlier conversation on the golf course. But it wasn't! as Gleason soon learned. "Next, we went into an inner chamber and there were six or eight of what looked like glass-topped Coke freezers. Inside them were the mangled remains of what I took to be children. Then - upon closer examination - I saw that some of the other figures looked quite old. Most of them were terribly mangled as if they had been in an accident."...

Mitchell.
- My conclusion is that the chanellers are simply 'channelling' their
subconcious. Most channellers receive predictions that never occur and they
receive info relative to their own interests, e.g. religious channellers
tend to get info from 'Mother Mary' or 'Master Jesus'. Abductees get
friendly Greys coming through, Anti-Grey channellers tend to get blond
ayrian entities saying the Greys are bad, etc.
