Editorial 8/Aug/96
We want to welcome the folks on the World Wide Web to come and visit us at The WINDS. The WINDS is a news service. Why on earth would we want another news service? There are numerous voices out there giving us the news and it seems unnecessary to add another. The World Internet News Distributary Source is descriptive of our purpose. The word distributary means a river branch flowing away from the main stream. While there is a great river of news, The WINDS will be a distributary, going away from the main flow.
Most individuals like to know what is happening in the world, but we have found in our search for information and the news that we often are unable to discover anything but the surface report of an event. We feel a desire to go beyond surface reporting and understand the motives and root causes of why certain events are happening. We want to investigate all the way to the bottom of a thing and hold it up to the light. The framework of our reporting will be justice and truth, and anyone is free to hold us to that commitment.
We will not report every little accident and storm, but we want to report on all of the movements that shape our society and take it in the direction it is going. Some of our articles will have a spiritual flavor and we may quote from the Bible from time to time. We make no apologies for that since the Bible has been around longer than most of us and it has been around longer than any of our governments as well. The Scriptures are a wonderful tool when used to interpret current events.
We also want to invite you, the reading public to contribute. Any meaningful, thoughtful article will be considered for The WINDS. Any true-hearted letter to the editor will be considered for the page whether it agrees with us or not.
We are not interested in publishing the rumors and scandals that rock our nation almost daily. We are interested in publishing the truth about our nation's course and the truth about the way in which we are being led.
The Winds will be updated often and we hope you are challenged in your thinking as you visit us from day to day.
Welcome to The Winds!
