The nation is appalled and outraged at the tragic death of a child beauty queen, but is strangely quiet regarding the continuing murder of countless unborn children in ways that are nothing short of chilling.
Springfield, Illinois - Abortion proponents are rallying to oppose measures which have come before the Illinois General Assembly that would outlaw the procedure known as partial-birth abortion.
Two state legislators both have bills upcoming, making it a felony for doctors who perform the late term Dilation and Extraction abortion method. Doctors could face up to three years in prison for violation if this legislation is enacted.
Columbia, South Carolina- In January, the State Attorney General announced that his state will bring homicide charges against doctors who perform some late term abortions. This follows the State Supreme Court's ruling in July that a viable fetus is a person. Doctors could face up to life in prison for performing the controversial partial-birth abortion method.
Exactly what is this "medical procedure" that has created such opposition? In hearings before the United States House Judiciary Sub-Committee, Brenda Pratt Shafer, a "pro-choice" nurse with thirteen years experience, gave the following congressional testimony:
"I stood at the doctor's side and watched him perform a partial-birth abortion on a woman who was six months pregnant. The baby's heartbeat was clearly visible on the ultrasound screen. The doctor delivered the baby's body and arms, everything but his little head. The baby's body was moving. His little fingers were clasping together. He was kicking his feet. The doctor took a pair of scissors and inserted them into the back of the baby's head and the baby's arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks that he might fall. Then the doctor opened the scissors up. Then he stuck the high-power suction tube into the hole and sucked the baby's brains out. Now the baby was completely limp. I never went back to the clinic. I am still haunted by the face of that little boy. It was the most perfect, angelic face I have ever seen."
This incident occurred in September, 1993, after nurse Shafer had been assigned by her nursing agency to an abortion clinic. Being pro-choice, she didn't think this assignment would be a problem. She was wrong, saying, "It was the most horrifying experience of my life."
Abortionist Martin Haskell told the American Medical News that a majority of fetuses aborted in this way are alive until the end of the procedure. Dr. Robert White, Professor of Neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University, said the unborn child is alive and can feel pain throughout this procedure. During congressional hearings on partial-birth abortions he stated: "The fetus within this time of gestation, 20 weeks and beyond, is fully capable of experiencing pain....Without a doubt, this is a dreadfully painful experience.' The nation's top experts on anesthesia testified that the fetus is not anesthetized and that the baby suffers great pain during a partial-birth abortion.
"Partial-birth abortions are usually performed after twenty weeks into the pregnancy, often much later, even through the ninth month. The procedure begins with the abortion doctor's forceps being guided to the baby's feet by the use of ultra sound. He then continues by pulling the fetus out of the birth canal feet first. When only the baby's head remains in the mother's body, the abortionist forces the scissors into the base of the baby's skull. He spreads the blades in order to create an opening large enough to insert a suction catheter. The infant's brains are then suctioned out, and the baby's head pulled from the mother's body." (Breakpoint, Jan. 1996). If the baby were to be delivered just 3-4 more inches, the doctor would be obligated to use every possible life-saving devise available, in behalf of the baby.
"It's a sickening procedure. As Rep. Charles Canady of Florida put it, 'The difference between the partial-birth abortion procedure and homicide is a mere three inches.'
"During congressional hearings on the procedure, Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina asked Dr. Courtland Robbins of Johns Hopkins University a question that really got to the heart of the matter. 'What's the difference,' the congressman asked, 'between a child that may be legally killed with its head still in the birth canal, and one who's just been born who has its head chopped off?' According to the Washington Times, 'the doctor tried to evade the question.' But 'when Mr. Inglis pressed him for an answer, he said it has to do with the attitude of the mother toward the fetus.'
"Think about that: the only thing that stands between the legal murder of a nine-month-old fetus is the "attitude of the mother"! (ibid).
Dr. James MacMahon of Los Angeles told American Medical News: "If I see a case...after 20 weeks, where it frankly is a child to me, I really agonize over it because the potential is so imminently there.... On the other hand, I have another position, which I think is superior in the hierarchy of questions, and that is: 'Who owns the child?' It's got to be the mother."
Does Dr. MacMahon actually believe his rationale? Consider what weight the case for the mother's ownership of the child would have if she were to give birth to the child, then later, be charged with child abuse? The state would immediately and possibly irrevocably disclaim the mother's supposed ownership of the child. Further, what place in our society does the concept of one's ownership of another human life have?
President Clinton had the opportunity and the responsibility to end this inhuman practice almost one year ago. The United States House of Representatives voted to ban partial-birth abortions, but Mr. Clinton chose to kill the legislation by vetoing the bill and the Senate did not have sufficient support for the unborn child to override the veto. Such is the value placed on human life by the leaders of the world's most powerful nation.
Rep. Henry Hyde makes this searching inquiry, "What kind of people have we become that this procedure is even a matter of debate?" That this brutal, merciless policy is permitted, sanctioned and defended by the nation's highest leadership, is compelling evidence of the success of their long-developed plot for America and the world.
Our "global society" has been desensitized to the sacredness of human life under the careful guidance of the creators of the New World Order. This goes far beyond the $450 million annual abortion industry in the United States to encompass the entire world: i.e. China, with its mandatory abortion policy and Europe, where "investigators discovered a shocking and widespread practice among female track and field athletes, of being artificially inseminated by their coaches to give them a leading edge over their competitors, and then traveling en masse to the local abortion clinic to kill their 5-7 week old unborn children." Events in the world do not haphazardly transpire. As Winston Churchill once said, if it "happens", it was planned to "happen". The lack of regard for human life is a fundamental principle held by the powers that are promoting this "New Civilization". Noted socialist H.G. Wells wrote in the year 1901 that "the men of the new republic will have little pity and less benevolence....(They) will not be squeamish...in inflicting death....They will have an ideal that will make killing worthwhile....The new republic will aim to establish...a world state with a common language and a common rule. All over the world its rule will run."
In the partial-birth abortion horror, one can see a portent of what is planned to take place in this world. The unborn have been slaughtered, the elderly and ill are targets of euthanasia, and if these helpless and hopeless ones are not respected and cared for, will others fare better?
