Real Networks, trying to get you to pay.
I was watching Tech TV today and on the program Call for Help, they were showing how difficult is is to find the free Real Player now. Real Networks, since the release of Real One, has buried the free player, even more than before, within the Real Networks web site. It gets even worse. The new Real Player requires you to give an email address and password for even it to work. It looks like it's beginning to be a time that we need to save our 'pre-XP' software before all the other companies start following in Microsoft's footsteps.
Santa hates the naughty! PCDJ must die!
So sometimes I register software. I don't like giving out my email to companies but sometimes I do want to know what is going on with their products and business strategy. Nothing pisses me off more, except when it leads to blatant spam. I recently had PCDJ software on one of my systems. They asked for an email address, I would think just for registration key, etc. I registered a new mail alias just for PCDJ spam if any. Sure enough, I did get spam, just from PCDJ. I thought, no harm. I just went to
http://www.pcdj.com/Newsletter/Unsubscribe.asp and entered my address, no problem right? I got a response from the web script, "It will take up to 1 week to process". No problem. I recieved one more piece of spam from them, then none. Now I am receiving spam from
WinXPnews. Now I know they sold off my address. This enrages me more than anything else. If you have nothing better to do now, email sales@pcdj.com to tell them how don't appreciate the marketing practices of their company.
Live365 went back up this week but...
I saw that Live365 went back up this week but I also noticed something they were doing that I didn't notice before. Live365 is charging $4.95 a month to broadcast your 100mb of 56kb mp3s. I didn't think this was a big problem because they are probably in financial trouble. The thing that bothers me is, I was listening to my favorite station and they still had Live365 advertisements playing between songs. Why should l pay to broadcast if you advertise all over my mp3's and in the browser windows. Boycott Live365. If you have bandwidth and a static IP, use shoutcast. If you don't run your own broadcast and want to donate to us. Please contact
radio@moloch.org.
